I'm trying to recreate a building I found in one of the sample maps, but for some reason I can't get the walls right.

In the image I posted you see two buildings, the upper one is from the sample map, the lower one is my creation. As you can see the walls don't align properly in the lower building and I have no idea how to fix this, but according to the sample map it must be possible somehow.

Can anyone tell me how to get the walls to align properly?

You need to use shift-click mapping.

The autotiles can create different structures depending on you holding or not holding shift while either using a new tile or copying an existing tile.

Search for a tutorial on "shift-click-mapping" for more details - MV handles it slightly different than ace, but it should be explained good enough there.

I read something about that, but all holding shift seems to do is place the bricks without the added details.

That's if you select autotiles and hold shift. Andar means that you draw the pieces as you need them in another section of the map, and then hold shift while selecting the tiles and putting them down elsewhere. There's a good tutorial on here that explains it better.

You can copy tiles as they are, by shift right clicking them, and then continue to hold shift and left click somewhere on the map to paste the copied tile. This way you can get the above example.

Ah I see now! I tried building the wall somewhere else, then selecting it with Right click + Shift and copying it, but I did not continue to hold shift as I copied it.

The building now looks as it should, thanks everyone :)

To be more precise, there are several different results depending on when you hold shift and when you not hold shift - that's why I said you need to look for the tutorial.

Because even now we didn't tell you all variants there are of this, only the parts you needed directly.

I will certainly look into those tutorials :)
