I found this great tileset for free but it wasn't made with rpgmaker mv in mind. I've been trying to reformat them myself but I can't seem to get it. Would anyone be willing to give it a shot?

sry i just gonna explain how to do it..

you need to resize it to 48x48..
(if i understood it correctly your requested tileset is 8x8)
in this thread people explained me how to resize with gimp for example..

than you need a tileset img with the size of 768x768 where you have to put the resized single tileset IMGs..
(incase the resized tilset_img has not this size)
->therefor it could be that you need to rearange the singel tileset imgs to fit on that 768x768 img

the way i do it is a bit complicated and needs probably to much time, i was told that there are easier ways to do it
(i use gimp to resize and paint 3d to rearange)
-> i also make a paint 3d grid with the gridsize 48x48 ,to put the singel img parts on the correct position

"Seliel" a pixel artist once made a "p.a.t.r.e.o.n_post" to explain how to do it with a better (faster&easier) way than i do it..
this can be read here.

@Dopan

I was able to resize it no problem, the way rpgamker formats its sprite sheets is what confuses me. I even tried using the og assets as a guide but I just cant get it :/

i am not sure if i understand the problem correctly,..

but i guess you also need to rearange the singel tile imgs on a clean 768x768_pixel tileset img.
(768x768 is the default size of a tileset img in mv)
the grid which is needed to put the singel tiles on the correct position, has the size of 48x48 pixel
(48x48 is the size of a singel tile grid part)

i made a screenshot with my pink 48x48 3d_grid for better understanding
Screenshot_1.png
sry but thats all i can do to help you, because how i do it is a bit much work ,which i dont wanna do here..

(and i never tried the solution from Seliel which can be read on the link in my posting above)

EDIT
i attached the mv grid which i use as 3d version to put stuff on the correct position,.. incase that could help you to rearange the singel tiles ..
(it has the correct tilset img size of 768x768 and every grid part is 48x48)

what you want to do has absolutely nothing to do with the spritesheets of the RPG Makers, it's about the tilesheets. So whenever anything references a spritesheet on this forum, you know that you're in the wrong place for your resources.

as far as tilesheets go, there are six different formats - five autotile formats and the sixth format for regular tiles. and it is this sixth format that you'll need and that is described in the post above.

One more note, a grid is super helpful (indispensable, really) but I find that importing a line grid, like the one Dopan provided, can sometimes mix up your tile placement, because the lines themselves have to have thickness, even if only one pixel. You can usually set a grid as guidelines in a graphics editing program like Photoshop or GIMP,and those won't have that problem.

But for my gridded needs, I make color blocks the size I want (in your case, 48px square) and copy-paste them in a checkerboard pattern. I've done that for years, in a variety of different programs. Hide the checkered background layer or flood it with the color you'll be setting as transparent, and you'll be good to go.

(Sorry I can't provide more detailed instructions, I'm on mobile and don't have a graphics program handy to check the finer points if setting up a grid.)

yeah i also change the opacity of my grid to 50% to solve that,.. sry i didnt mentioned that
..so the lines are part of the 48x48 and every line is 1 frame big
(how i use it,the grid itself is in 3d on another space so it doesnt conflict with the tiles.. and i delete it when the IMG is finished)
->but like i saied they are different ways to solve this, depends on what tool u use.. and i am more used to & comfortable with paint 3d^^

oh, hey, I forgot about all this!

my old project got abandoned after I started working too much on stuff I'd already worked on - plus, starting to hate the story I wrote for it. Then, well, a lot of serious life **** went down. I ended up moving across the country, cutting off some people, etc. - **** was rough.

So, uh, I guess I'm back for now? Funny how things work.
I'm glad I'm sticking to my guns on having fighting game mechanics in my game, from what I've read, it's not for everyone. but for the most part, I've made it so you don't have to use them motion inputs for attacks if you don't want to.
And my project's just entered the Lunar New Year Sale 2022... Let's see if it reaches it's goal of $ 7,77.
Ohmygoodness I played Dicey Dungeons for the first time last night. Gave me SO MANY IDEAS for how to fix Heidi.
