"Which part of game development is the most exciting for you and why?"

I mostly like the Coding part because this here I have to challenge myself for make something work correctly and even if this a pain in the ass I love this part who force you to dig in your coding knowledge for make something who seem impossible....possible!

I know I am pretty hard to understand haha

The most exciting part of game development is debugging because you never know what catastrophic bugs you might find.

Wonderful products, as usual. :D

My answer is,

I believe I love mapping the most. Creating the world that the characters live in, putting in the smallest details, and having every corner reflect something. What's the meaning of game-making in the first place? Creating something, and mapping is the best way to do it, I think. ^^

The part of game development that is the most exciting to me, is doing the artwork, because I love to draw, and I find it fun.

Time Fantasy looks amazing, especially the sample maps. Might be worth a look :D

Best part of game dev... hmm... I kinda wanna say the initial planning phrase as that's where a whole lot of ideas can stem from and you can make magical worlds and all that sort of thing. However, it could also be quite tedious as you may also end up planning out more than you need to, most of it may not get used, or you just end up listing stuff like "Argentium Sword" over and over with various combinations of silly words and power levels.

But I'd probably say the first 30% is the most fun, as this is when you have the most ideas, they're fresh, and you're not burnt out.

Woah, the Time Fantasy Pack really hits the old school retro charm! XD but most of all I like both school packs, they look really professional and as if they had always been there... awesome!

this time I don't like the Inspirational Vol 4 not as much as the other ones, but the Cyberpunk Music is just marvelous!!

is it weird to use this music in fantasy RPG games? I actually have some "cybernetic oriented" society and I think it would fit really well there. ^^"

Which part of game development is the most exciting for you and why?

for me as a programmer it's the implementation of new things. doesn't matter if features or improvements, the best part of this is when it's finally working!! this makes me smile like an idiot in front of my PC, but I'm always happy when something works! =D

Glad to see the Cyberpunk music pack is finally out. Been waiting for that for ages.

To answer the giveaway question:

I love coming up with interesting worlds, plots, and developing the characters, but I guess most of this happens before the actual game dev begins, so the other stuff - I really enjoy designing boss fights or trying to pull off anything I haven't tried before.

Which part of game development is the most exciting for you and why?

I think it's everything related to the story. It's strange, writing a story is the hardest thing for me, but at the same time it's the funniest. I love thinking of new worlds and characters.

Which part of game development is the most exciting for you and why?, you ask?

I like creating unique experiences. I try my best to make each of my projects do something different - outside of the norm. So in the end, when I hear someone say "That was so cool!" because it was something unexpected... that part right there is the most exciting thing for me.

If I win the giveaway, could I get the Time Fantasy pack? :3 Or do we not get a choice?

My fav part is salvaging, optimizing and beautifying code.

Usually I am a slow thinker and hardly understand project goals, moreover I think I lost all of my creativity in my burnout. So younger coders are doing most of the work and I feel pretty useless. But when I get deployed to salvage, to optimize or to beautify already written code ... well I have 35 years of coding experience in most lower level coding languages and I recognize design patterns like a chess player recognizes chess positions. That's the rare moment when I can shine and when I get the attention from my colleagues.

Seriously, I am not even interested on these packs, I was on some of the last ones, but "Oh, well...", still, I must defend my field of expertise: Writing.

Warning: Textwall ahead.

Where lies the motor that keeps a videogame, movie or comic running? What's the backbone of every action being performed on the screen you're sitting in front of? What can make you stop playing a game and start living it?

The story, a world carefully woven by writers. Those who can create and destroy, those who can turn wood to gold and good to evil within a single sentence. You can address an issue with a joke and laugh with all the seriousness in the world, create a hero, make a miserable man rise through adversity...or not. Craft a nobleman and make him descend into madness, develop a young character and let their horrors devour them, do the most atrocious thing you ever imagined without harming anybody but perhaps yourself...if you're not ready.

Oh, but to do that, you must create a character. A being, with all it's complications and, not only create them, but make them feel like a true creature. With their interests, their own personalities, their knowledge and personal philosophies. After that, involve them in a story and make them a part of the engine. A teeny, tiny essential mechanism that can turn the world upside down without it's presence. Make them a part of the other character's stories and make the other characters a part of their story. Take them into the world you've created, allow them to explore every nook and cranny, know all the hidden secrets and conquer over any and all adversities...and when the time is due, offer them a fitting end and let them rest in peace.

There is no need to see them, there is no need to even know who they are. They can be alive, dead or non-existant. They can be devils, made of clay or even rubbery men. Writing it's a whole universe, unique and open, limitless for the one who knows how to traverse it and with no secrets to the one who knows how to understand it.

But to achieve that understainding...why, that's the interesting part.

Wow. Inspirational 4 surprised me. Somehow I didn't expect this kind of music and I've got to admit that they are, well, inspiring for a lot of scenes.

As for the most exciting part of game development, I'd say setting up cutscenes.
It's like playing with dolls in some way. You have those little sprites moving, speaking... and they are yours. They (normally...) do what you want them to do, speak your words and give life to a scene that only existed in your mind.
I love seeing a finished cutscene that plays like I envisioned it.

You want to tell a story and feel one step closer to your goal, seeing this virtual theater before your eyes.

Yay, more OSM/Retro stuff. I really should do something with it. Since i will buy this pack within the next few minutes and don't want anything else, i'm not really interested in the giveaway, but anyway:

I like creating gameplay mechanics and engines more than the game itself, which is why i never finish anything once i got (most of) the basics set and move on to the next idea.

Most exciting thing is when you have your game ready for some alpha testing and when you get the first impressions from your game testers. :D

Haven't had the ability to listen to the music, but I like the Time Fantasy Retro look. And some nice ideas for the futuristic school tile set. Although I'm wondering who needs a bundle for a classic and futuristic school tile pack. Maybe some weird time traveling school? Actually, that sounds awsome :D

Which part of game development is the most exciting for you and why?

Mapping, hands down. And the same reason a lot of started ideas and projects of mine come to a halt sooner or later. I just map and map and forget the gameplay. Still, I can't resist placing down some tiles here and there and create beautiful landscapes. Is there a support group for helpless mappers?

Oh, and I see there is no end date for the givaway. Was it forgotten?

I like making the maps the most. By trying to create the most pretty and well down map as possible while learning different mapping skills. I'm the type person who keeps learning and never stops. Specially when it comes to mapping.

The most exciting part of game development for me is either map making, or event making. I enjoy the creativity with making the maps but I really enjoy making some really interesting (and admittedly some weird stuff) with the events. Had some good laughs with my friends from some hilarious events.

World building was one of the main reasons i got in to game dev, but geeez, it eats up the time... This is a WIP from today before i call it a night.. maybe 80% finished.

Wohoo, its finished. It took some time but slowly I get used to this retro 90s anime style.
Now I just have to finish the other 37 frames. for the first dialogue... oh lord, what have I done :LZSlol:
(and if you are confused: yes, I place various eastereggs about other great cyberpunk games/videos/books that I like in my game ;) )
Has anyone watched the movie "Tiny Toons: How I Spent My Summer Vacation"? It is a cartoon and it is freaking hilarious. We watched that movie so many times when our kids were growing up. Thankfully it has a lot of adult humor to keep the adults entertained that the kids don't really get.
Here's some more weapon icons for the Wastes I've finished recently. Some are mine, some are icons that @Ninjakillzu originally made (the AK variants, the Thompson, the Glock, the M16 variants), but edited by me with permission.
