tint screen and menu look

Hello, i have 2 problems, when i make a tint screen to make my map look a bit darker, it suddenly moves my character on some place on the map, and i cant move. Second, how to change the inscriptions in the starting menu like load, start new game, to be displayed only as white texts, without the blue border?

1) tint screen cannot move the player - if that happens either the engine's scripts have been damaged/changed, or you're doing something else in addition to the tint screen command. Please post a screenshot of the event where that happens.

Also be warned that some scripts like Khas' Ligthing Script disable several of the screen effects like tinting.

2) To remove the blue border either requires a new windowskin (which would remove the border for all windows) or a script modification for the title screen

EDIT: And please specifiy for which engine you ask - this is the area for Ace (and I answered for Ace), but your profile says you're using XP

So can i have any script to remove the border or a widnwos skin? And can you tell me how to do it, couse im very novice, started yesterday.

Could you please post the whole event, including the left side. Also check that your player transport on the stairs actually defines the position you want.

And i did it. I even replaced this like 4 times, deleted and did it again, and it still happens. Only on this map where tint screen is done.

As a result, you're currently tinting the screen sixty times per second for as long as you are on that map - creating a lot of lag.

The second problem has nothing to do with this event - if the player appears at a different position, that is caused either by the transferring event on the old map, or by a repositioning event on the new map. You have to find that other event that causes this by checking all possible events on the map and under common events.

On that event add a second command 'Erase event'.  It's on the second tab of the event command menu.  That stops the event doing anything until the next time that you enter that map.  Presumably you want it to be tinted every time?  If you don't, then use a self switch and a second page with the self switch as its condition, set to action bar, not to parallel process or autorun.

Works now, thank you. But a few more questions duh ;d

1. Can someone tell me how to change this menu look? I mean how to do it and by what.

2. Are there any other combat systems? I saw some, i want something like final fantasy, not just enemies, and i choose who to attack.

3. Are there rpgmaker xp tilesets for vx ace? I want some more retro looking tilesets.

4. How do i work here on layers, like at xp? Sometimes happens that i want to put something on for example house i want to put chimney, but it shows grass under it.

1.  Needs a script if you want to do anything major.  Otherwise small tweaks to the default scripts.  I suggest you do a mockup of what you want and start a separate thread for it.

2. There are several different systems.  If you search the Master Script List you will find a variety of them there.

3.  There have been some conversions, but they are awkward.  In particular, XP auto tiles work differently and so don't work in Ace without a lot of editing; the size is different; XP tiles are in a different art style and can clash horribly with Ace tiles.  There are, however, a number of resource packs in the store which might suit you.

4.  No layers as such.  You can put something on top of a tile from the A tab, but not on top of anything on tiles sheets B-E.  For your chimney, for example, you need to place it as an event.

Im starting to think that i did a big mistake buying vx ace...

Anyway, how to use scripts? Im sorry im asking so much questions but im really newbie

Why would you? All programs take some time to get used to their quirks, and RMVXA has a lot of advantages compared to older RMs as well.

Bottom Layer is everything on A#-Sheets. that is why the grass shows, it is the tile that was there on the bottom and you need to replace that with something for the roof for the layers to work correctly.

Ok, thanks, now i want to change the menu and battle system, and i need detailed instructions, halp.

how do you want to change the menu and the battlesystem? some changes are possible by eventing, but bigger changes require scripts. And we can't tell you how to proceed without first knowing where you want to end up...

and please do NOT quote an entire post to answer, especially not if answering to a post directly above yours

Check the scripts for battle engine symphony (side view battle) and yanfly's battle engine ACE (faces in the battlescreen), they can work together to form such a battlescreen. Both can be found on the master script list.

For changing the borders, you can simply change the windowskin picture - export it from the resource manager, change it with GIMP or Photoshop (the windowskin specifications are in the help file) and then reimport with the same name.

I suggest you make as good a mock up as you can, and then start a new thread in script requests sub-forum.  For example, do you actually want the HP and SP bars to go across your characters' faces or beneath them?  What do you mean by "medieval"?  Once people can see exactly what it is that you are trying to do it will be much easier to make a suggestion.  For example, it could well be that Yanfly's Battle Engine will give you exactly what you want, but no one can be sure until you are more specific.

And, of course, as Andar suggests, put in the window skin you want to use.

What is mockup? I just want vertical shot, as its shown on the screenshot, so i can see enemy and my character. The engines that Andar gave me are those what im looking for, and i think i might use them.

Just dont know how to put them into the game (scripts)

"Mockup" means a fast and cheap picture for explaining how something should look later - like a picture of a house that isn't yet build for people to decide if they want to purchase it or not.

Those pictures are neccessary if there is no existing script that creates the wanted look and feel for something, but if you already found what you like then that is no longer needed.
