I got some icons from itch.io that I would like to add to my game. I can manually edit the IconSet.png file in photoshop to add them in, but this seems like it will take quite a while, pasting them in one by one, especially if there are a lot...

Does anyone know if there is a tool or a script or something that will automate the process? I looked around but I can't seem to find anything - there is of course Yanfly's Icon Generator, but that's geared towards putting together new icons rather than taking existing icons and just arranging them.

Thanks!

I am not aware of anything that does this. Maybe check out Useful Development Tools.

I did take a look through there already, actually! Doesn't seem like there's anything there that does quite what I want...

Depending on your photoshop version, the tool you are looking for is probably called 'Contact Sheet'. You can see if it's in yours, they took it out at one point. There might be an add-on or extension to reenable it.

If you don't have any semitransparency (and only have either totally opaque or totally transparent), you can do it with irfanview as a bit of a hacky workaround.
irfanview's create panorama image stacks images horizontally or vertically

and save image tiles breaks them up into columns or rows.

So
-add all the tile images into one really long horizontal strip with create panorama
-slice that really long png into 8 tile pieces with save image tiles
-stitch those 8 tile slices together vertically with create panorama.

This isn't a good idea for semitransparent stuff, since irfanview doesn't handle an alpha channel.

Wow, irfanview! I haven't heard that name in DECADES. Well... at least a decade :p

After a bit of fiddling with the settings, it worked! I will still need to do a bit of tweaking later but this is MUCH easier than doing everything one by one. Thanks so much!!!!

..of the major old school series that began in the 80s- early 90s, I still haven't beaten 'a' Zelda game. Mario 64 was the first Mario I've beaten. I don't know if I should give that honor to Link to the Past or A Link Between Worlds(I currently own both). Well technically I've haven't beaten a Sonic either (Game Genie doesn't count =P).

Time to add the "headshot" concept into the game so that people may actually aim at the heads when shooting zombies and get massive damage and armor-pen bonus as rewards. :kaojoy:
(The red area is just for visually debug purposes right now. But, it's possible that I will add something that displays the weak spots of enemies in the future.)
Worked on a cutscene skip domino effect using Maker Systems' script as the basis. Basically if I have a batch of cutscenes in a row on different maps, now when you skip one cutscene it will skip the entire set. No more spamming X to skip a scene every new map.

Oh and it will work regardless of where you do it from in the set. Convenient!
seems absolutely WILD to me now all the hundreds of hours of work I used to do in 2k(3) over a decade ago with a resolution of 320x240. that seems so insanely TINY now, seemed so normal at the time!
Playing Aroma Indosiar theme song.
Aroma is an Indonesian TV show about cooking. :)
