Hi all

I got MV Maker yesterday and am trying make sense of it all.

If I can get Application Studio (web design package that produces automated financial reports) to work, then I would to think I can get my head around an RPG maker.

Welcome to the forums and community!  Most of us are pretty friendly here, so if you got questions, feel free to ask away!  The best place to start with RPG Maker is usually to make up a "test project" and tinker with the program, and everything in it.  It also helps to look up a tutorial or two on Variables and Switches.  Beyond that, not very hard to use this program at all!

Enjoy your stay!

Thanks, quick question. What are the fundamental differences between VX and MV?

VX or VXA?

VX is a very old maker that no one really uses due to a lot of limitations that were removed with VXA (VX Ace).

The main difference between VXA and MV is the change in the script language, which allowed to make deployment to non-windows systems possible. That also made everything on the scripting level incompatible, but on the mapping and eventing level MV and Ace are almost identical (some improvements on MV only)

Um...  Not sure.  The things I noticed immediately was being able to have more than 5 slots of equipment (and being able to define your own, so you can add rings, necklaces, shoes, gloves, etcetera) in MV.  Adding plugins were much easier on the user end.  RTP was higher quality on MV end, but I think there's less default monster sprites on the MV end as well.  The icons for items are also noticeably different between MV and VX.

Most of what's changed between them is aesthetics.  They both have a lot of the same commands and such.  I think a lot of the skill stuff have been improved on MV side as well, but I can't honestly be 100% certain.

EDIT:  ALMOST FORGOT!  The limits on a lot of fields were expanded as well!  Where you used to have 1000 slots for items, equipment, weapons, skills, states, etcetera...  Maximum limit is now 2000!  Even the upper limits on switches/variables was increased!

Welcome to the group!

Sounds like your question has been pretty much answered already.

If you didn't already notice(I know a lot of people tune out the sigs) Andar's sig up there has links to a bunch of tutorials to help you get started.

Don't forget, aspiring writers: Personality isn't what your characters do, it is WHY they do it.
Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
The biggest debate we need to complete on which is better, Waffles or Pancakes?
