Hey. I need help with transferring my character during gameplay. I know how to make a transfer event, and I know how to have them face the correct direction. But what I'm trying to do in my game, is have a transfer event in the same place on my world map, that goes to three different locations of the town map when my character enters from that direction. This is the best I can descibe it, and have tried two different variations already that don't want to work. One with vairables, and one without. Can anyone help me.

So as in, do you mean if the player is facing left then send them to the market, and at the same time if the player is facing down send them to the inn?

So you would need to do a conditional branch and have it check which the player is facing and if the player is facing right when touching event send them to that location.

Not exactly, but something along those lines.

I'll try to explain what my probem is, then show a printscreen.

@mikey193drago, please state which engine you're using so that this topic can be moved into the correct support area

site feedback is about feedback you give about the forum or the website, it has nothing to do with game development

and we need to see screenshots of the event page you have so far to see what you tried to do and where you went wrong.

I have for example, a town icon on the main map.

I have it circled in blue.

Transfer in different directions pic 1.png

As you can see in the above pic, there are four possible directions where the player can enter the town, though I only want three. But I need the transfer event to take me to one of three. If I enter from the north, it takes me to the northern point of town; if entering from the east, then I appear at the east of town; and if I enter from the west, then I appear in the west of town.

Below is the pic of the town with the three locations that take me to the correct location on the world map.

Any ideas on how I can make it work for my preferences?

I am using rpg maker vx ace from steam.

Below are the event pages I had tried to use variables on.

This is what I'm hoping to get, and you explained it so simply. But how does the conditional branch work at this point.

I've moved this thread to Ace Support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

yes, that is completely wrong.

The conditional branches will never do anything, because they're empty - the condition would determine if the part between "conditional branch" and "branch end" would be executed, and that is always empty on your screenshots.

Additionally, those transfers will only work if the variable is high enough - where do you set the variable you placed as a condition?

I suggest you follow the link to the "starting point" in my signature and work through some of the eventing tutorials listed there to learn how events work.

I forgot to mention. The other variation I can't remember how it was written, but I had it set below character so they walk on it first and did not use variables. The above is most recent.

So for the conditonal event, you would need to add it in to check which way the player is facing which i think is on the third tab

@mikey193drago, please avoid double posting, as it is against the forum rules. You can review our forum rules here. Thank you.

Also, do not quote yourself with such massive pictures but edit the topic to include your additions.

and what you need to do has nothing to do with variables, delete any reference to the variables.

You need to use four conditional branches, set to check the facing of the player,  with different transfer commands inside their branches to place the player to different places depending on where he was facing the event (set to same as character and player touch)

Well. I tried to use conditional branches. It works, but not how I want. As the transfer event is on the same spot of the map, it is only working for the third event page. How does the fourth conditional branch come in?

This is how the first page of the event on the world map should look (except with the comments being the actual set variable and transfer command) :

Code:
◆If:Player is facing Left
  ◆Comment:// Set West Variable
  ◆Comment:// Player Transfer West Position
:End
◆If:Player is facing Right
  ◆Comment:// Set East Variable
  ◆Comment:// Player Transfer East Position
:End
◆If:Player is facing Down
  ◆Comment:// Set North Variable
  ◆Comment:// Player Transfer North Position
:End
