As the title says I'm trying to transfer specific files from my game to another computer. A friend and I are collaborating on a game, but on 2 different computers. I'm working on items, skills, characters, enemies and classes. He's doing maps and scripts and more. The problem is I cannot figure out how to get the stuff I'm working on into a data file he can just put into his folder so I won't have to redo it all again.

We are both using rpg maker MV

All help would be appreciated, I don't want to waste my time on this for nothing.

Inside your project folder there is a data folder, and that contains the datafiles - they're even named based on their contents.

What is your problem with simply copying those files?

I tried that and it didn't have the ones I made, just the default ones. Maybe I did it wrong but I made over 70 items, copies the items file to a memory stick, transfered to his, overwrite his items and it still just had the default ones not mine

I said the files in your project folder - NOT the new data folder in your program folder.
If you have the editor open with the project, simply go in the menu "game" - "open folder" - those are your game files, not the data in the program folder

And he needs to copy them into the project folder as well

Edit: and he needs to copy the files before opening the editor - copying while the program is active will prevent loading the data.

Ahh I see. I did do it correctly then, however he did so and didn't close it. I tried again and it worked. I feel like an idiot. Thank you.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
