(Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I have no idea where else to put this-)

I've recently taken an interest in converting some of my sprites and tilesets from VX Ace to MV, but since MV no longer has the "click the color in which you want transparent" feature when importing graphics, this becomes very hard.

Does anyone know an easy way to make the background transparent? (Other than manually erasing everything in paint.net, because that's what I'm trying to avoid >.>)

You need to switch to real transparency (= using alphachannel), because in the long term that is the only way to go. The "select color for transparency" was never something good, it was just there for those filetypes that don't have a native alpha-channel (like BMP and JPG)

That said, the deletion is the only way to go, you can only try to find tools that make it easier to select pixels based on color.

I know that there are several tools for exactly that in Photoshop, but I don't know if those exist in paint.net - look for something like a "magic lasso" for selecting areas based on contrast or color differences.
