Hi I want to use the trial before I make a decision to buy, the downloaded went fine but I, like the others above me, did not receive the trail key. I check my all my folders, still nothing. I was wondering if someone could help me out?

You only need a key to activate the full version - the trial works without a key.


Have you downloaded from this site or from somewhere else? About one or two years ago the DRM was changed (this removed the need for the key) and if you got an older setup, you need to redownload from here to get the correct setup program.

I have downloaded the trial for RPG Maker MV and whenever I try to run it I get an error that says RPG Maker MV has stopped working. Windows then closes the program automatically before I have gotten past the splash screen.

I am trying to run it on a Toshiba Laptop with Windows 10. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All similiar cases in the passt have been caused by either old drivers (especially the graphic driver, RMMV needs a halfway modern OpenGL-version, and a lot of older graphic drivers also have older OGL libraries), or by a background program restricting access (there are a few antivirus programs that are especially restrictive of RM or of programs downloaded in general.


I suggest updating the drivers of your computer where possible, and checking if RMMV had been blacklisted by any of your firewalls/antivirus (and whitelisting it if that is the case)

Sorry if I'm bothering but I recently installed RPG maker XP for the first time. It keeps saying my trial expired although this is my first time installing it. Can anyone help?

@Chili: What OS is on your computer? Did you install RMXP with admin rights?


You need to run the XP setup with admin rights for all data to be correctly placed if you are on newer Windows versions.

Yes I do have admin rights, the account on my laptop I am currently using is on adminstrator.  I am using Windows 10. 

I reinstalled it and removed it from my laptop over 5 times. It still comes up as 'key expired' when I first open it and doesn't allow me to use the 30 day trial.

Are you sure that RMXP was never installed there? That message can happen in two cases: if the setup fails to write into the registry, or if the registry already has an older date from launching the trial earlier.


It might also be incompatibility - RMXP was written for Windows XP (which basically works 32 Bit) while Windows 10 is not only a dozen years newer, it is 64 Bit. Have you set compatibility to WinXP?


There already have been several quirks with RMXP on Windows 7, specifically because the structures of Windows changed since WinXP, and it's entirely possible that W10 added more problems for that.

The laptop I have is used, and the person who I bought it from is a close friend of mine. She originally had RPG Maker XP trial for 10 days due to being apart of a project a friend of hers was working on then uninstalled it when she left due to personal reasons.

I've tried setting the compatibility to WinXP and it still didn't work. Is the fact that the trial was used before the reason why it's not letting me use the trial?

yes, the previous use of the trial is stored - you would need to format and reinstall windows before you can install XP again.


But why are you using RMXP in this case? It is extremely old and if you're waiting for a sale then Ace is usually even cheaper than RMXP - currently there is a steam sale for Ace at an extremely low price.

Because I'm currently working on a personal pokemon project, and pokemon essentials only works with RM XP as far as I've been told. If I could find a pokemon sprite tool kit for Ace then I would use it, but I haven't found one yet.

so i'm having a problem with Ig maker. It gets to the reminder page and tells me that the ok button will be activated in 2 seconds. it stays like that and never activates the ok button. i'm running windows 10 64bit. could compatibility be an issue?

that didn't work. it freezes when it tries to load simple shooting (popular).gtd. should I remove that file? I've tried unstalling the program, reinstalling it, rebooting my computer.


Edit. Its working now. YOOHOO!!! don't know why but i'm not complaining. lol. going to have fun now. thanks.
