Trial Activation Error

hello I tried downloading "RPG maker MV" and i got the email saying i got a 20 day trial but idk how to download it thers nothing ther to download the software. is ther another email im suppost to wait for?

That is because you don't need trial keys anymore - you need to apply the updates as told in the instructions to remove the need for a trial key.


Sorry, I can't be more precise as I don't use it, but in the mail with the trial download you should have also gotten a download link to an update, and you need to download the official update from support, and apply both in the correct order as described in the instructions. That will remove the trial key question.

I bought RPG maker XP yesterday and today I put in the product code today with the email and It says "resource not found." I tried re installing it but it did not work.

@SkyTheCat was the download of RMXP a current one or an olderone? There had been a change in the DRM one or two years ago if I remember correctly, and if you tried to activate an older trial it might still have the wrong server adresses stored.


If that is not the case, then it could simply be a failure somewhere on the internet connection. If it was on your provider or on the server, it should work again if you try it a few hours or a day later. However, if that is because your firewall or antivirus blocked the connection, you'll need to whitelist RMXP in that program.


A third possible cause can be if you installed RMXP without admin rights - it is programmed for an older Windows version (WinXP) and some of the changes since then can cause problems if it is not installed with admin rights on Win7 or later. For example, the second setup for the XP-RTP can't be started automatically without admin rights.

@Andar Thanks! also, Can I use the same product code on two different computers only if I use it? Because on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday im at a different house and the other four days im at the other and I want to be able to work on my game on both computers.

Yes, as long as you're the only person using the program and it stays at two computers.

If you download it on Steam there might not be that issue, but i'm not sure.

That topic wouldn't be able to help you even if the first post wasn't damaged in an old forum move, because Ace had changed DRM and security servers years after that old topic.


So any solution mentioned there wouldn't have worked for the current versions anyway.


However, those errors usually mean that something has blocked the internet connection - either a firewall or something on the internet itself blocked it, and you would need to find out what blocked the connection - that is usually not a problem caused by the program or installer itself.

Not sure what could be blocking the connection.  The only thing I can think of is Windows Firewall, but I already tried turning that off.  No other firewalls here.  What else can do something like that?


Edit: Thought of another one, my router's firewall.  Turned that off too, tried again, same error.

I'm having the same problem as RitzierHades63. I've tried to activate RPG Maker VX Ace Lite on two different computers (both Windows 7), and I get the "The underlying connection was closed: an unexpected error occurred on a send" message on both of them. Turning off the Windows firewall didn't help.

where exactly did you download Ace Lite? If it wasn't from this site (or if it was but one or two years ago) it might still direct to the old DRM servers instead of the new ones, in that case you need to redownload the current version from this site.

Mine's from the site (http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/download/free-programs) and I downloaded it today. The installation works a little different from the instructions on the download page though, the instructions talk about extracting a zip file and running two Setup.exe files in the resulting folders, but when I download it gives me only the file RPGMaker_Lite.exe straight away.

Yes, that was changed and is correct. Have you tried running the setup as admin?
 (I'm talking about the run as command on right-click, not about you having admin rights and starting the setup normally)

I re-downloaded the installer and tried that, but the result was still the same.

I can follow your Link to the Ace Lite Version, but i cant navigate to it over the rpgmaker web Shop. Very strange.


Is this just buggy or are you planning to take down the Ace Lite Version?
