Hello,
What's the best way to trigger an event?
Cause I have that feeling like I was doing to much complicated event constructions for what I want to achieve.
I want my NPC to stand still or have a little walk around and when the player is close (or in sight), it will stop the player and make the NPC go toward him, talk a little and start a fight. So nothing fancy, all classic.
Please correct me if it can be done in a simplier way. I've been making autorun events with line of events activating a switch that is required for that autorun event.
There are a lot of NPCs that my hero has to fight so I can't allow him to go pass them without an interaction.
My idea was a line of events (switch activators) before the NPC that makes him move towards the player.
But I had to make 3 event pages. One for the NPC standing still before activating a switch. Second for actual action. And third for the NPC staying in place after the fight.
I think that maybe it can be done smarter. It seems to me like laying 5-tiles long events (because of the road's width) before the NPC starts its movement towards the player is unnecessary. And making hundreds of events with new switches before every fight..
Please tell me there's a better way.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
