Didn't recognized this game after I saw this thread (I can't recognize RMVX styled games one from the other by maps so I forgive myself). You're Yuna21 from Enelysion . So, I wanted to post to give you my support. I like your games, they seem very well constructed story-wise and graphically. Really want to try this one.
@LCM: Yeah, I'm thinking that LoTL will probably take me less than six months to complete if I work on it every day. I'm not aiming to make this an epic-length game ( then again, Enelysion most certainly isn't, coming in at just under 7.5 hours for me XD ). Style over substance, that's what i plan to do for all my future projects.
@muramasa: Thanks. Tbh, I really don't like my user name over at RMN. XD Hopefully, I can produce a stream of games where the player can instantly say, "Hey, that's a Luchi game! XD".
I'm trying to develop games which places emphasis on the characters and the overall storyline, and which is further enhanced by the music ( and visuals ) I use. I've never been a fan of fancy battle systems or menus. I try to keep my menus simple and clean, like the battle system. Some people may think its boring, but each to his own. I'm not the kind of person who gets blown away by mindblowing graphics.
Anyhoo, I've managed to do about 40 mins of the game now, having finished up the first town and a few interiors ( there is no world map, all the areas are connected and travel is done through teleportation crystals ) and having written the first five scenes of the game.
Atmosphere galore. Even better when played in full screen with headphones on.

@LCM: I never played Skyrim or any of those games, tbh. XD But I do want to play it ( despite the fact that my PC can't handle the game ).
Been working on a few more scenes ( now that Enelysion has been uploaded to both Mediafire and Dropbox, I have more time to work on this now =) ) and I'm toying with the idea of making all areas in the game inter-connected or just make a regular world map. While I did state in my earlier post that all areas are connected, I still like the classical world map that the player can traverse. So I'll probably add one in. I like giving the players options and I also like to explore detailed maps looking for loot XD ( hence, interconnected areas ).
Fixed up that temple as well.
Her Expy is obviously in my avatar.
Here's Tristian's faceset: I added a border around all the face sets now, so it looks more distinctive now. I'm not using an ATS, btw. I just set the message window to Transparent and use a Show Picture command.
And here's yet another villain? that you will meet when I release the 1.5 hour long demo. Because there are so many scenes in this game, things will unravel quite quickly, and I still sort of have to get used to the idea ( since the pacing in Enelysion is a lot slower. Tbh, more happens in the 1st hour of LoTL than in the first 3 hours of EHD. The villains in the latter are also more 'in the background'. ). But I still want to pace the character's relationships with each other, despite the pacing of the plot.
- First off, I really want to develop this game into a large scale epic. The world map is around 350x350 in size ( but I do blame kentona for his amazing Hero's Realm world map. That is a thing of beauty. It seriously motivated me =)). The setting and the characters really makes me want to develop this beyong an ordinary visual novel ( despite the fact that I'm not very good with battle balancing. It's one of my weaker areas ).
Fairly large image
Still a WIP.
- Secondly, this project feels a lot cleaner and smoother than Enelysion so far. The battles are easy to get into, the battle system easy to grasp and the directions are simple and clear. The only difference is that LoTL has random battles everywhere ( so it sort of feels like you're playing a SNES classic from way back =) ). Just not every 10 steps, mind you.
- Thirdly, the plot has barely been touched but there is already a comfortable one hour or so of playtime on the game clock. Once I get it to 90 minutes or so ( or as soon as I get to that cliffhanger ending that lets people want more ), then I will release a demo.
- And lastly, some pretty maps for you guys to look at.
I have been playing a lot of Golden Sun lately as well ( level design and mapping is genius, and they
blend together seamlessly ) so I did take a bit of inspiration from there for my maps as well. I forgot how beautiful Fuchin Temple really was... 0_o

I finally managed to finish the 90 min demo for this project. I'll put up a link soon after I've tested the game thoroughly for any bugs ( then again, I've been testing extensively since July when I started this project ).
Some expected features that you can find in the demo:
( I don't consider having a 'sideview battle system or pretty maps/lots of sidequests features. XD )
- Explore pots and barrels for hidden items ( like Golden Sun, and taken from EHD as well ).
- The overworld map is enormous. Look for glowing sparkles to find more items.
- A Scene Viewer allows the player to view previous cutscenes in the game.
- A 'Support System'. Fight a certain number of battles together with a certain allies to unlock hidden passive skills.
- If you loved Enelysion's soundtrack, you will love this game's as well.
@Dalph: Ah yes. That was one bug I overlooked ( since I don't tend to skip scenes in RPGS... ).The player can avoid it and continue the game if you choose not to Skip the Scene after that mini scene between Tristian and Dante. I only realised if after I uploaded the game ( always happens ).
I will probably have to put a new version up soon. It was a silly thing really, had the wrong switch triggered that was supposed to remove Dante from the doorway... Those simple errors are always the end of me.
@Dalph: Nope, I don't use a composer. Let's just say its my... little secret. =) I would say that around 3 of the game's tracks comes from movies, but everything else ( apart from Enya's Willows on the Water ) comes from a royalty free music site.
Only played a little bit so far, but I have to say that I'm really not a fan of you using some of the tracks you used in the Enelysion soundtrack for this game. Hearing the Enelysion battle theme immediately put me in the mindset of this being another version of the Enelysion demo, which isn't really what you want when introducing a new game to people who've played your stuff before. This game needs to have its own identity apart from Enelysion, I think. So far, some of the characters seem to be very similar too personality-wise. For example, if someone told me that Tristian was actually Laine after dying her hair and becoming a knight in service to a princess then I would believe them. This is all from me playing the first half-hour, so I'm looking forward to see her character fleshed out a little more.
@bp: The battle track is a placeholder for now. Searching for a decent track that fits in with the rest of the game's soundtrack is pretty hard ( actually, searching for battle music in general is hard, since it's the track the player hears the most, so it should never become annoying ) without resorting to commercial game titles and such. In fact, Enelysion's main battle track comes from a movie. =) And yes, Tristian actually becomes far more developed than Laine. She's driven by some very powerful factors, including revenge, something Laine is never driven to do.
Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!
Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
