Hello,

Just a quick post, is it possible to use self switches in the troop tab in the battle event section?

I can add self switches in the event, although i cant seem to find anywhere to put the condition of the self switch.

am i being silly? is there a simple solution to this :D

Can't you just use condition branches to control such(you're probally better off using normal switches/variables depending how complex you want the battle though instead of a self switch)

Basically for complex common events, and battle events, you need to really utilize condition branches to its fullest. The only other way is to use script(for something like this, most likely a pretty complex as all hell script at that).

You shouldn't, due to the way self switches are designed.

It will lead to unexpected bugs and you will likely spend a lot of time trying to find it. Or you might never find it until someone runs into it.

^This is so true(and that's specifically why I don't even like using self switches to beginwith).

Self-switches are designed specifically for map events. There is no harm to them as long as you only use them for map events, and preferably through the event editor (or access them the same way the interpreter does it)

Once you start trying to use them with common events or troop events you run the risk of overwriting data.

Cool, thanks for the help guys!

I have some weird phobia of using up too many switches, and using self switches as much as i can as I'm only early in development and don't want to get overwhelmed! :p

But i know what i need to do now its just going to take some practice eventing some interesting battles i guess! :)

Cheers

It's not gonna happen, the cap on switches is a whopping 5,000, even if you did something stupid like asign every treasure chest in the game with normal switches, you still wouldn't hit the cap, so don't worry about it.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
