trouble activating vx ace trial

I'm having trouble with RPG Maker VX Ace. When I click activate trail it says: Connecting to activation server. but nothing happens, I waited all most an hour but nothing. I also tried un installing and re installing, and tried with my fire wall and internet security off but still nothing. plz help and thank you.

It looks like I'm having the same problem. I gave it a brief shot back during the pre-release stage, back when the program came with a limited RTP and imposed restrictions on the number of maps and events you could create. Seems like that might be the root of this -- is this how it's supposed to be?

Kidic, what OS are you running? What Anti-virus as well? Also, where did you install the engine and do you have full administrator privileges in that section? Because sometimes, even if you are the admin account, parts of the computer partition are not allowed to have changes in them and can often lead to problems similar to yours—though mostly in online games and stuff.

Mystic, I have Windows 7 andTrend Micro Titanium Maximum Security 2012. I installed it in my program files (x86) >Enterbrain. I am on my personal laptop, were the engine is installed and I only have one account. Plz help me!!

Okay, I want you to try to disable your Security for about thirty minutes (most security anti-virus programs I've used have this option) after you uninstall the engine, delete the shadow copies from the Program files and restart the PC. Once you have done that and the security is down, reinstall the game first into the Documents area. So it would look like this: C:\Users\ kidic151996\Documents\

Once you have that, install the RTP into the same place. It should look like this: C:\Users\ kidic151996\Documents\RMVXACE*

* = whatever the engine's folder is default called.

Test it and see if the connection goes through, and remember, have your security, all types, shut off for about thirty minutes or if you are afraid that isn't long enough for you to do all the steps, until you restart the PC. If that doesn't work, try it again as Admin and if it still doesn't work, please report back.

Also, I heard this security program has many issues if there are other anti-virus programs on the computer. So check to see if you have any one, especially the default Microsoft security. Some problems I want you to check out:

• If there are other security softwares on the PC.
  
• Windows 7 Firewall configuration problem.
  
• Shadows of other security software or old version of the Trend Micro program.
  

Here's hoping you won't have to mess with anything passed the reinstalling to another directory part. ^_^

What do you mean "reinstall game"? Do you mean the set up in the Program file? When I extracted the files from the RPGVXAce_Setup RAR file I get one file with that contains two files they are: Program and RTP100. The instructions from the webstite say to install RTP100 then the Program. Also my security turns on when I restart my computer. I all ready un installed it and deleted shadow copies before I shut down my laptop last night.

When I say "game" I mean the program's actual EXE, e.i the editor installer. When you extract RPGVX/ACE and you get a folder with the followingl "Program" and the "RTP 100" folders as well, the editor's exe installer should be in "program". The site does say install RTP first, but I want to see if this cures your issues as it does with Ubuntu installation. You can install RTP first, for now, but try in the location I said.

It is okay if your security goes back on after a restart. You should be able to right click it in the tray area and shut it down for a while or until another restart. If you don't have it in the tray options, you can open up your security program and shut it down via that option.

Okay, then you are passed the uninstalling RMVX/ACE and restarting stage. Proceed with the following directions after that point.

Yes, for my instructions try installing both to the documents. If you want to be careful and follow RMVX/ACE's rules, install RTP first. I was saying install the game first because it cured the same problem for me on Ubuntu.

Hello, i've been having probems activating RPG Maker VX Ace , emailed support and recieved a product key and when I input everything, it said "The activation was unsuccessful. Response from the server: NOK". Haven't really checked through all the threads in the forums so not sure if this has been mentioned before but I've tried using a proxy server as mentioned Mako's thread and hasn't worked for me, disabling firewall and antivirus software doesn't make a difference either. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Magitek, it wouldn't work. It still said "Connecting to activation server" is there a limit on how long that takes? When I install the second file into my documents is asks it install it in the same folder as the first one, do I let it? I also tried to install the program first then the RTP but still nothing. I asked my older cuz he got a trial of an older RPG maker and he had no problem. But he did it off Explorer when I downloaded it off Chrome. Dose that make any difference?

I wonder if I would have the same problem if I tied to get RPG Maker VX.

There should be a limit. It shouldn't take more than a few seconds, or a couple of minutes at most, to connect.

Yes, let it. That's why I installed the editor EXE first, so when I install the RTP and it asks to install in the same folder it won't erase anything (you know, erase something important in order to function). You should have something like this: C:\Users\Kidic\Documents\RPG Maker*

* = folder where you installed.

You can further follow the Ubuntu guide, I know you are on Windows, and create a folder in the documents area for the maker, "RPG Maker" or something you prefer, and then do the installation steps. *remember to have your security off, even your default Microsoft securities like essentials, firewall etc etc*

Chrome could be a problem. It is definitely worth trying to download in Firefox or the browser he got to work. Make sure to use a new email as well, as that can cure issues with the download—should there be any, of course.

I have never seen this before. Since the security disabling didn't help you, try following this guide and make sure you didn't reinstall with a previous install's shadows are behind. I know its not for your error exactly, but it just might work and allow your computer to access the server. If it doesn't, please make sure you have permissions to area you have installed at or that your PC isn't blocking it. For that, sometimes, you can easily right click things and uncheck "block" by clicking "unblock".

It shouldn't cause this problem or any others at all. I have XP RTP installed, and VX installed, and they both work.

Did you try both RTP first option and the ENGINE first option restarting the PC after each uninstall&cleanup and reinstall?

Let's try something a bit more out of the box then. Are you on wireless connection, or wired? Does your router have a security block out for these types of things?
