Okay, so, I've been testing some cutscenes and I noticed something odd: one of the sprites had a small "halo" above his head when he turned up. This is the first time I noticed this, and I don't know why it's happening now. From what I can gather, it looks like a portion of the sprite above it was cut off, which is weird, considering that this is from a spritesheet I made with the built-in sprite creator. Is this a glitch that can be fixed, or will I have to recreate the sprite?

DA GLITCH!.png <--- this is what it ends up looking like (The top one)

Did you edit this at all after creating it?

What are the dimensions of the spritesheet?

It is the bottom row of pixels from the next row up of the spritesheet, which means the spritesheet isn't aligned correctly. If you added an extra row of pixels (or maybe removed one), from the completed spritesheet, it might cause something like this.

I didn't ever edit this spritesheet, and the total dimensions of the entire spreadsheet this sprite is from is 576 by 384

Also, for some reason, this is the same with a few other sprites.

You need to adjust it a little in Photoshop / GIMP, use 48X48 grid

It’s likely that one or more of the generator pieces is off by a row of pixels.

I'm sorry, but, I don't even know how to edit the generator. How would that happen?
(Sorry if that came off as rude.)

No, it's not rude. And I don't mean it's your fault. I'm guessing when it was originally made it was a mistake that has just not been caught before.

They sprites that this is happening on, do they use the same generator piece? Can you tell me which piece or pieces you used on the sprites this happened on? I can take a look and post corrections, if this is in fact the issue.

Male > Clothing > 4 (the robes)
That's what appears to be the problem.

Also, it also affects sprites I made a long time ago, and by a long time ago, I mean almost 2 years ago.

@Drago the Shinigami , please avoid double posting, as it is against the forum rules. You can use the "Edit" function on your posts to add additional information you've forgotten or respond to multiple people. You can review our forum rules here. Thank you.

You can just go back and edit your last post if you have more to add.

And yes, opening it up in Gimp, that was indeed the problem. Whoever made it just accidentally moved it one row of pixels down too far so that it was encroaching into the cell below.

robes.png

Here is the corrected version. Add it to your generator folder, and when it asks if you want to replace the existing file, tell it yes.

I'm really sorry, but I don't know how to do that. I don't know if it's because I got RPG Maker MV on Steam, but I have no clue how to edit those files.

How many different clothing pieces is it happening on? The piece I gave you in the post above IS corrected. You just need to put it into your generator folder.

Just trying to help here, Go to your steam program page, select RPG maker MV and then right click to bring up a menu. On that menu choose properties. Now find the tab that tells you to browse local files and click on that. Here is a list of program files related to MV - find the folder marked generator and then the one marked TV ( that is for top view sprite - the one you are having problem with correct) Now I don't know if it is in male or female or both, but that file mlogan gave you goes into these folders - overwrite the one in there because it has that graphic error - hope that helps.

As far as I know, it's just the one file, and what I meant is that I don't know how to get to the generator folder.

The generator files on Steam are in this directory (for Windows):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RPG Maker MV\Generator\TV\Male

(That being said I don't think the parts needed to be moved up, but instead that one line of pixels should be deleted.)

Hmmm, you are likely right slimm, good catch. I was just in "move up mode", didn't look at it that closely.

Well, I already replaced the file. Is there another file I should replace the replacement with?

Yay, it's fixed! Thank you everyone!

(now that that's taken care of, I have to fix all of the sprites that used that file...)

Well, I'm quickly recovering from Covid, but I'm still broke and injured lol. I miss working on my game! I think I've figured out a lore-friendly way to do a tutorial section separate from the main gameplay, but it'll take some scripting know-how. Which I don't have. And can't afford. :p
