trying to add text input for NPC conversations. need help

Hello. I am creating a game in the style of the old Ultima PC games. I am trying to add an NPC conversation system where the player needs to type in keywords instead of choosing from a set list of choices. Is this possible in RM2k3?? I want it to work similar to the old Ultima games.

i read a previous thread about password input, so im using that method for now.. using the name hero with conditional branches. are there any other methods?

RM2K3 does not have full keyboard support, so the only thing you can do in this vein is to use the hero naming screen to change a blank hero's name, and then do if statement checks against that name. This is tedious, both to program, and for the player, as the naming screen is far from intuitive, and the if checks need to check against any possible combination of capital and lower case letters, in case the player decides to type in a NaMe LiKe ThIs.

RM2k3 is more suited for 16-bits consoles RPGs. Systems like these ones used in PC games and such vary from too hard to almost impossible to do on this engine.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
