Been a while since I was in the forums, and I am having trouble navigating in here, so if this is the wrong place to post this, I apologize, but I am having some issues with creating a sort of puzzle for a project I am working on.

I am trying to make this puzzle where the player has to move objects on a board (think of like a combination of chess and a block moving puzzle from a Zelda game) to specific locations to trigger the switch that opens the door. I can figure out pretty easily how to get the player to interact with the object, and how to get the object to move, but the problem that I am running into is that once I get the object to move, I cannot get it to move again. It's like after the object is moved once, it becomes a dead object and the player can't interact with it anymore. I have not been able to find anything by searching online, so I thought that posting here would be my last, best option.

Can someone please help me figure out how to make it so the player can interact with and move an object/npc/whatever more than once?

You probably are turning on a self switch too soon, but without seeing what you've done, that's purely a guess, and is probably the best you're going to get.

Please show screenshots of one of your events that is doing this. If it has multiple pages, show a screenshot of each page. Use Alt+Printscreen to eliminate the desktop background, and don't crop it any further.

Do you also need help to determine when all the pieces have been moved to the correct place?

Nevermind, the issue seems to have resolved itself. Not sure why, but it's working when I use mouse-click instead of arrows, but the issue now is that I have to move the player at least a full space away from the object before I can interact with it again...

If you can't use arrows, then the issue isn't resolved. If you want help, please post the screenshots. I bet it's a very simple error.

Ok, I think the issue with the arrows was the direction the player was facing, but now I can't the thing to move down again, even if there are no obstacles...

You will have trouble with that (your event design) if you are standing below the crystal and you tell it to move down. It won't be able to move, because you're in the way.

Normally a "push" mechanic is used, where the command is just "move away from player". This means the player has to approach it from one direction in order to move it the other way (ie - approach from above in order to move it down). The issue with THAT approach is that it can get stuck against a wall.

If you want to go with your design, you may need to do a test before each move to see if the player is standing in the way and move them. Or just leave it as-is and let the player figure out that they can't approach it from the tile they want to move it to.

Like Shaz writed

If the player is on top and want to move the sprite up, that will never work because the player is in the event way and will always block it.

If you want to use that way you need to create a set movement route for the player too and tell to him to move up.

Or you need to change your code event.

Tell me if that worked :)

Edit: I forgot to say this will work only with action button

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
