Trying to make a Couch Event

What's a couch event you say? Basically I made a custom couch character set, where the main character sits on a couch. What I'm trying to do is just that, How would I make it so that the player presses the action button, then becomes invisible and the couch character image is displayed on the couch.. and your character cant move or rather get up until you press the action button again?

Once the action button is pressed your character would exit couch by the couch image disappearing while also making you the player transparent again.

You'll need one or more sprites of your character in a sitting pose, probably facing different directions. The couch would be set to Same as Character and have an Action Button trigger which would run the event that would have you face the opposite direction, wait a half second, turn Through On, Directional Fix On, move you on the couch, replace your image with the sitting pose, turn Through Off, and then switch to page 2 of the event that would be set to Below and also Action Button trigger. Page 2 would basically be the opposite of page 1, doing everything in reverse to get you back up.

I should state that I'm totally guessing here. This is what I'd do of I were trying to accomplish what you're asking, though. It's worth a shot. Should at least get you close.

Yeah worth a shot, reading it. It seems like it makes sense and would work. I'll give it a try and tell you if it worked or not. Thanks!

You will need to have an autorun event otherwise the player will still be able to walk around and not forced to 'interact with the couch again' in order to leave.

I'd say page 1 would be action button trigger, empty couch sprite, and the commands would be to set player transparency on and turn on a self switch. Page 2 would be conditioned by the self switch, autorun trigger, player sitting on couch sprite, and the commands would be to monitor for action button input and when it happens, set player transparency off and turn the self switch off.

I'm just not sure if an autorun event set to monitor for a keypress will actually allow a keypress, but give it a go.

@Shaz If the couch was a couple tiles that didn't allow movement in any direction and the event that triggered the sitting movement was an invisible event on top of that with Through checked, would that work?

I'm not sure, but it would be easy to test. Just put an impassable tile on the map, surrounded by passable tiles. Put the player on the impassable tile. See if they can leave that tile.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
