There's quite a few tutorials out there for making your own custom menu using show picture/events for VX Ace and earlier, but I haven't found any specifically made for MV yet. So, I've been following along with VX Ace ones, and trying to translate it over to MV where necessary.
At this point, my menu basically works- that is, the images I made for it appear with the appropriate button presses (esc key, in this case)- but then, when I press esc again to close the menu, it pops back up again immediately. I added switches that go on and off, so I'm not sure why this is happening. While I was trying different things to try to solve this, I used 'erase event,' and that worked to make it go away, but then it wouldn't come back again the next time I pressed esc (which is essential!). So, depending on what I try, I either can't get it to stop coming back, or I can't get it to come back at all.
It's a pretty big event with lots of pages, so let me try to break it down so someone can help me-
1: Menuhelp1.jpg shows the first page of the event where I set it up. From there, it moves over to page 2-
2: Menuhelp2.jpg is where the majority of this thing takes place. The first part shows my controls (which mostly work, but move WAY too fast). I didn't copy/paste all of the hover section at the bottom of it, because it just repeats the same thing for six buttons.
3: Menuhelp3.jpg is the bottom of page 2. The middle that got cut off in these pictures are just copy/pasted portions with different variables. The last bit of code at the bottom of this image is where I'm trying to get the menu to go away when esc is pressed again, but this part isn't working.
4: And just so you know what's going on in pages 3 through 8, I currently have placeholders for all the menu options, which is what menuhelp4.jpg shows. I'm not sure if they're relevant to my problem- I'm pretty sure my issue is going to be on either menuhelp1.jpg or menuhelp3.jpg- but I thought I'd include it just in case.
Sorry that my first post here is a question!
