Trying to start my game with a cutscene but...

I want to make a cutscene involving my main character BEFORE having the game let you control him. I'm not sure how to do this. I'm putting the order in the string of commands for the event, but I can't run the game to test it because it keeps telling me I have to put a starting location. I can't overlap the two in the same square. If I put the starting location elsewhere, the game just starts at that point and there is no story sequence. Is there a way to specify in this very event that this character's "starting position" is right where the event should begin/end and have the game run fine?

Sorry if this is noobish, I couldn't find this info anywhere. If there is a thread on this forum that I missed, please direct me to it!

While I'm asking, I have another question.

In a nutshell, this cutscene is basically going to have my character walk up a few steps, say something, and then some enemies will yell and then surround him, which will then trigger a battle. How do I make these enemies appear on the field screen so they can approach my character? Do I have to create a new event for each individual enemy? And if so, how do I have them trigger automatically when they're supposed to appear? Making this is lots of fun but I just can't understand/figure out how to do some things.

If you tell the event with the cutscene to autorun then it should work.

Autorun is in the dropdown of the trigger box.

At the end of the event you'll need to either transfer the player to a new map or turn off the event with a switch or something.

Either choose transparent on the system tab to hide the character or put the event for the cutscene on some other square and choose autorun. Inside the event use the "Set Move Route" (2nd tab) to move the player.

download the sample game "crysalis" from this site, it uses an intro as well as a cutscene before the player can control anything.


Just open it in the editor to check how it is done there.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
