Joe Swordboy walks northward, toward the ancient crypt that houses his father's remains.  Suddenly, The Skeleton King steps onto the path.  "This is where your journey ends, Joe Swordboy!" says The Skeleton King.  The hero and his foe are locked into place on the map, facing each other (some set number of 32x32 squares apart.. ) The battle menu appears.  Attack.  The Joe Swordboy sprite takes a single step forward and slashes his sword.  The Skeleton King sprite, though nowhere near the actual blow, flashes white and takes damage.  Back and forth the battle goes, until The Skeleton King crumples into a pile of pixely white bones.  "You fool," whispers Joe Swordboy.  "You didn't realize I had the power of menu-operated turn-based non-ABS no-Battler on-the-map combat!"

Does this exist?

Thank you for the rapid reply.  By no means do I wish to sound ungrateful, but I don't read Japanese.  The screenshot seems promising.  Is there a version in English?

If you want tactical battles, search for GubiD's Tactical Battle script in this forum or on the master script list.

if all you want is a simple select attack and show animation then do something else, you can just event it... if what you want is simply have the current map as the background of the normal turn based battle, I think I've seen one in Victor Sant's scripts... if you want a full tactical battle, see above post

This can be evented, and is actually one of the easiest Battle Systems to event. The problem is, even the easiest Battle System takes a few tutorials to learn how to do.

I've got some tutorial series that can help you get started though. Check out number displayer, indexing, evented menu system, picture menu system, loop and wait for button press. But before that you'll need to learn conditional branches, variables and switches, which I have vid tuts on.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
