turning a character sprite into a sideview battler?

Hey, so I really love the sideview battle system, as well as the new character generator.  However my question is, is there an easy way to take a character sprite I created in the generator (i.e. the 'battler' version)...and actually use this as a (sideview) battler (i.e. enemy) ?      I want to make a short little game where a character I've created who is in your party ends up being someone you have to fight against, and i want to use the same battler fighting against him that he had when he was in your party.

I feel like there might be a way to do this since part of the character generator is the "battler" version of the sprite...I guess if I had to do this manually, I would just need to cut out the pose I wanted, resize it to the correct size, and flip it from facing left to facing right?   Thanks in advance.

You would either need to manually replace the sideview sprites created by the generator with your character's map sprite, or you would need a plugin that will allow you to use the map sprite in battles rather than the SV sprite.

Oh - for enemies - if you don't want it animated, you could just copy that single frame of your character sprite and save it on its own as an enemy sprite.  If you actually want it animated, you'll need to request a plugin to be written to animate enemy battlers.

Hmmm, a mirror plugin of the animated SV sprites would be awesome! Being able to use characters made in the generator for both allies and enemies, both using the same animations / action steps, would be very nice indeed. I was thinking of doing something similar because my game doesn't have "monster" enemies, only human / humanlike, but I have no Java skills... was something I was going to attempt way down the road.

You would need to make a request in the JS Plugin Requests forum for that.  And remember that the character generator only does humans, not monsters :(

Sorry for the newbish question, but how do I copy a single frame of the character sprite?  Also, wouldn't I have to somehow reverse the direction its facing, since sv battlers face right but char generator sprites face left?

I use Gimp it's free. So this is the Gimp how-to.

Go to the battler file, open the battler page you want with GIMP. Image Transform flip horizontal. Then get the square selection tool and grab the one you want. Then Image crop to selection. File export, then select the battler folder of your project.

Here is a link to GIMP if you don't have an editor. I tried to do this with paint (since everyone has paint) and you end up with a white background square. http://www.gimp.org/

Cheers

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
