L.J. Ware presents

Twell: Sword of Light

From the guy that brought you Shindra Duel Adventures and Eling: First Dimension!

Genre: Action RPG
Engine: RPG Maker XP

It all happened long ago on a world called Twell that didn’t know any danger and where the sun was always shining. A dark creature named Deff used his dark powers to create fear, death and destruction.

However, one day, a brave human picked up a sword from the lights and dared to face this dark creature. With his sword from the lights, he managed to defeat the monster by forcing him back into the shadows.

Some say that the hero was a special human that had the power to free their world, but others believed that the sword he held was the key to defeating this monster. A sword that no blacksmith could have forged. But where did it come from? 60 years have past and our hero has passed away. Maybe one day the sword will find someone else to wield it. Are you the new hero for the Sword of Light!?

Characters

Name: Micah (or your own name)
Race: Human
Age: 24
Description: This is the main character and is played by the player. He is going to be the one who will receive the Sword of Light.

Name: Deff
Race: Mage
Age: 87
Description: Deff took over Twell 60 years ago and lives in the shadow until he meets the right person to return to Twell. The original name of Deff is David Fend. He grew up in a poor family as an adopted kid. He had a tough childhood after his mother died, until he found out that he was a mage. He learned to control his powers by using a strange book from Twellin City. He decided to leave the city to make himself even stronger. No one knew how he became so strong and evil, but some say that the people in Twell reminded him of his father.

Name: Luck
Race: Human
Age: 26
Description: Luck is the hero from 60 years ago and forced Deff back into the shadows. Luck found the Sword of Light just like Micah and gave it the name “Sword of Light”.

There are more characters coming.

Change your character

The look of the character depends on which equipment you have. All combinations are possible.

This is how everyone will start their adventure:

Some examples of how you can become:

All combinations are possible. In some situations you need to equip older equipment.

Quest items
The Q-Item will be used in a lot of situations throughout the game. These are items that don't beat enemies but they will help you throughout your adventure. You can use a Q-Item by pressing the Q key on your keyboard. You can use the Q+Shift keys on your keyboard to quickly change your Q-Item.

Makes some light in dark places.

Break weak floors or stones.

More Q-Items are coming.

Goals
At the beginning of the game, you will receive a book full of goals to complete. These goals won't have almost anything to do with the main story so they are just side-quests to get more out of the game. When you manage to complete a goal, you will receive a message at the bottom of the screen.

Completing these goals isn't just fun, you can also unlock new things like new items or new modes for the Main Menu.

L.J. Ware Mode
Every L.J. Ware game has this game mode. L.J. Ware Mode allows the player to fill in a password and receive new content. However, in this case, it's a little bit different. This time, it's a shop but you can't use the normal gold from the game. You need to collect bronze, silver and golden coins. You can find these in your adventure but you can also receive them by playing some game modes in the Main Menu.

You can always trade these coins for 4 different items. However, you can update L.J. Ware Mode by using passwords from the website to change these 4 items.

Main Menu
The Main Menu is a place where everything comes together. You can access the Main Menu from the start menu.

Adventure Mode
This will let you return to your adventure. You can return to your last location but you can also choose a few locations so you don't need to walk all the way back.

Battle Mode
Choose one of the 9 challenges to receive some coins for L.J. Ware Mode. You can unlock new challenges by completing goals in Adventure Mode. You can also choose in which stage you want to battle.

Party Mode
You can replay all the mini games and accept some challenges from your favorite mini game.

L.J. Ware Mode
Trade your coins for new items.

Extra's
Play some new challenges like Boss Rush in this mode.

Exclusive L.J. Ware sprites

This game is going to get some amazing enemies and boss battles. Expect some big and scary bosses. These sprites are just a hand full of what's to come.

This is all thanks to the artist Avee.

Thank you! I'm busy with another project that I can't post here but I'm always working on this project. Someone is making the boss sprites at this moment but I'm not sure if I'm gonna post these boss fights. They are really big and cool so I want the player to experience their first encounter with these monsters. But I can't wait to show it here.

First, I want to apologize for announcing this game to early. At the time I was working on Eling: First Dimension which is gonna release this Friday. At the time, it wasn't possible to share Eling: First Dimension on this website. However, I had no idea that Eling: First Dimension took so much of my free time.

Now that Eling: First Dimension is almost done, I am gonna focus more on this game. Just keep in mind that Twell: Sword of Light is far from a release date but expect some more feature details in the future.

By the way, I fixed the first post a bit.

To give you a small teaser of a boss fight and don't spoil to much for later announcements, here is a screenshot to show how big the bosses are gonna be and this is just one of the bosses that is going to be present in this game. They are exclusive made for this game by Avee. These bosses are one of the most complex sprites this artist has ever made.

Make sure you sometimes discover the environment. Can you find the secret chest in this screenshot?

Another screenshot from Twellin City. This is the biggest city of Twell. This map took me a really long time to make. Every character you'll see looks different. You can follow some characters and see what they are doing. You can visits shops, the market, pubs and you can enter a lot of these houses to meet different characters. I'm planning to make sure that there is a lot to do in this city so I hope you're looking forward to explore this location.

One of the easiest goal in this game is to reach this city from your home town. After you accomplished this goal, you can fast travel to this point.

At this moment, I am working with the programmer for this game to create a unique and simple way of showing the start menu. It's going to be what you expect from RPG Maker XP but it's going to look nicer, it's gonna be more accessible and easier to understand. We also work on the smallest details. For example, your HUD will change into white when you enter a cave.

I can't wait to show more details about the script.

The game looks simply just beautiful! Great work I must say. I might be a bit biased though... I have always preferred XP over VX ;)

Thanks for all the kind reactions. I can't wait to show more about this game in the future but I want to make sure that the things I'm showing are as final as possible.

These are the options when you press on the ESC key. I'm using the Ring Menu and the programmer has made some great adjustments to it. The main goal was to make it easy to use for everyone.

For example, when you leave an option and return to the Start Menu, the player returns to his last used option. You can also access the Q-Item option by pressing both the SHIFT+Q keys while playing the game. When you leave, you return to game, not the Start Menu.

I will give more details about each option in the future. Even the simplest options like your Inventory has been optimized for this game.

Earlier I showed the Ring Menu. Now I can show two of the options: Items and Skills. Both can be set on 1 to 6 hotkeys.

You can use the items (that are not transparant) by pressing the ENTER key. But, you can also use items easy while you play the game or using them in battle by setting them on one of your six hotkeys. Just select the item and hit the 1 until 6 keys.

You can also do this with your skills.

You can use every skill in battle (if you have enough SP) but some skills can be used whenever you want. But what happens if you hit the ENTER key in the skills menu? Well, then you get a list of the skills that are already active on your hotkeys. You can select where you want to put your selected skill.

It's easy to switch your skill this way and you know what skills are active when you change your hotkeys.

You can use Q-Items in this game to explore new areas. You can set them with the Shift+Q keys and use it with the Q key. For example, you can create a light with the lantern in this dark cave.

Still a bit dark don't you think? There are better versions of the same item. Like the Silver Lantern.

You can see a lot more, like this bat enemy.

I wanted to show the way to the Gomblons, one of the races in this game. When the player discovers the destroyed Sim Village, he can go east to climb the Gomblon Mountain.

There is a cave at the top that leads to Gomblon Town.

There is a lot to do here for the player but I'm still working on these maps so more information about this town will be revealed later.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
