By the way, I want to compliment your work - I'm surprised you're not getting more heavy requests for things. :) Your style is unique in that it's not TOO cartoonish (like I think MV's default battlers are) but it can still blend relatively seamlessly with the default sprites/tiles/battlebacks of the RTP. I also SERIOUSLY appreciate how you include different sizes, and both frontview and sideview versions - makes my life so much easier. Excellent work.

Thank you Jon, very kind of you to say. Thanks for making my day. I hope to make the packs as usable as possible for someone at any skill level. Some people may be well adept at editing the images on their own, while others have no idea, so just trying to make everyone happy.

This is the concept of what may become the next pack, featuring monsters in various stages of evolution. Not as cute as Pokemon perhaps, but would open up a lot of battle setup options for RPG Maker users. Tell me what you think? Should I keep going (3 down, 47 to go)? What monsters do you want to see evolved?

That's a neat idea! I can see so many possibilities for this art:
    • A family of monsters (mom, dad, and babies)
    • More powerful versions of the monster that appear the further into the game you go
    • A monster that grows/evolves during battle (over time, or perhaps in response to a specific kind of attack that actually strengthens it)
    • A monster that shrinks/de-evolves during battle (perhaps has a weakness against a specific kind of attack, or perhaps some mad scientist/wizard warped the poor creature and you have to break the spell to change it back to its original form)
    • Monsters where the only way to defeat them is to make them stronger by infusing them with power until they explode
    • Monsters where, when you hit them or get them below a certain HP level, they split into 2 smaller versions that are just as tough or tougher
I like this concept. Well done, sir!

Also for consideration, monsters that show battle damage. The monster starts off strong and then gradually gets more and more hurt until it's barely hanging on.

Golf Hacker, I love your ideas! Some I was not thinking of but would totally make for great game elements.

Second concept example for you all to chew on. It's been a fun adventure so far, hoping you have some ideas of what else we might want to make in an evolution set. So far themes I've been working on are water, fire, earth, electric. (6 down 44 to go)

Hmm, instead of thinking of the monsters just in terms of elements, since the theme is "evolution" i'd think of it in terms of regions or "biomes."

-monsters that have evolved in water
-monsters that have evolved in forest
-monsters that have evolved in desert
-monsters that have evolved in mountain
-monsters that have evolved in cave
-monsters that have evolved in volcano
-monsters that have evolved in snow

Those are staples, some other ideas would be:

-monsters that have evolved in swamp
-monsters that have evolved in shadow/darkness
-monsters that have evolved in the belly of the great beast
-monsters that have evolved in a demonic/alternate dimension
-monsters that have evolved in an ancient crypt

    Jon,
Brilliant ideas, I like the way those suggestions could take the images, so will try to keep them in mind.

One update, still not quite complete with this series, but here's WIP.

I was pleased in the end with these. Still need some clean up, but it's late and I'll have to get at it tomorrow. Many more drawings complete, just need the time to color. Welcome the feedback, and so many great ideas so far.
Talking to my kids in the car tonight, these sets so far have been very "safe" because they aren't trying anything creatively new or difficult. Small crab to monster crab, small fish to monster fish, nothing terribly exciting. Next step is to come up with sets that are outside the ordinary. Combinations like a shark and a calculator (Sharkulator), was one idea in the car. We'll see what we come up with.

You didn't know you wanted this until now! Work in Progress on a Yanfly evolution set to pay homage to the legendary Plugin Creator. Yanpi, Yanfly and YanFlayer! More to come, but I hope I've captured the essence well enough.

Had way a ton of fun with this one. Still need to do the final clean up, just like the fishes, but wanted to post the end result.

I'd like to see Yanflayer in one of their videos!

Edit: Btw, what is the skull on his chest, surely there's a story there.

Would love to see Yanfly use them all ;)
The skull was just a cute add, since I didn’t want so much empty space in the center. Also a symbol of a corrupted soul/undead.
If I was using the battlers, I’d have some sort of spell you cast on them to evolve/corrupt monsters, perhaps as a way to increase the difficulty/reward from each fight.
Or perhaps as a stage progression mechanic. Think mad science lab or lich king domain. Room one is full of basic creatures, then room two they have grown/evolved, and room three they are monsterous/boss types. Something like that.

For your battlers, do you have a master catalog somewhere with all of them? Perhaps with a watermark or something to protect them?
