Hey guys. I just recently bought MV off Steam about... an hour ago. Immediately when I started it up, I noticed that it looked very strange. It looks zoomed in as if the program isn't recognizing my computer's native resolution, and there are also some graphical glitches. Hovering over the large buttons reveals bright green text. I could deal with that, but everything else is so fuzzy and looks terrible.

I don't know if this is the "lag" people are mentioning, but I looked around on these forums and also the Steam community and haven't been able to locate a solution. I updated my graphics card - it's strong enough to handle RPG Maker (NVidia GTX 980). Ace doesn't have this problem - it's still crisp and native. Is there a Windows 10 setting somewhere that I'm overlooking?

Comparison of both versions. Both featuring the same default new map size of 17x13

I haven't even started making any games with MV yet, so I can't comment on actual gameplay. I'd like to fix this first.

My System:

Windows 10

Intel Core i5

16 GB RAM

NVidia GTX 980 (OpenGL compatible, 4.4)

Display Size 1920x1080

I wanted to see if anyone had any immediate fixes they knew about, before I add this to the stickied bug report. Thanks so much if you have an idea :)

Edit: Kirkaz added a screenshot of their MV and it does indeed look different from mine.

I'm convinced its a setting on my computer somewhere (or in a settings file somewhere), but I'm not sure whee.

RMMV
The new UI is larger than the old one, and the fonts are not as sharp. I don't know if that is what you are mentioning however. Some people like the larger ui and many don't notice the fonts aren't crisp. But you will get used to it most likely.

Not sure about the lag or bright green text though.

Hmm that's too bad - I do like the larger UI, but not a fan of the fuzziness. I suppose if this is normal, I'll have to get used to that, and just deal with the glitchy tooltips. Thanks!

On my end, the text look "resized". As if it was rendered for a different aspect ratio and then resized to fit my screen. Looks a bit blurry.

I think the UI looks a little kiddy and unprofessional, but that's just my personal opinion :p I still enjoy the maker though :)

That's exactly right! Rendered incorrectly. If this were a game, I'd have to go to the Options menu and set a different resolution. But there's no such thing in MV...

While our tooltip differences are clear (mine are glitchy), your menu bar looks much more crisp than mine. Am I imagining it? Haha.

Thinking there must be a way to fix this somewhere in the PC settings, maybe....

Edit: compared in photoshop, they are different! RPGMakercompare2.png Mine's at the bottom, looking much more blurry. Of course, just the toolbar being blurry isn't a problem, but the problem persists throughout the entire UI (the database, character generator, eventing, etc.)

This is a global GPU setting that is not a default you need to adjust specifically back to defaults for RPGMV

Thanks! Do you know how to do this? I went into my Nvidia Control Panel and played with the settings for MV specifically, but so far nothing has changed.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
