I may very well just be blind(lol couldn't find the add animation command at first, but thankfully I found it, I just kept overlooking it), but I don't see any command for taking over events.

Granted I could do the same thing by setting every event on auto, and using twice the amount of switches, but I rather not waste switches on stupid little things, if I don't need to.

If by chance there really Isn't such a command, can someone please give me the ridiculously simple script for such(as simple as it may be, I don't know RGSS at all, I know more about C++, then RGSS, as funny as that is)?

What do you mean by 'take over another event'? Control it from another? You can use move routes to control any event on the map, if that's what you're looking for. It's very similar to the regular event commands.

basically yea.

Why would I want to use move commands, to what move to another event, to trigger such, that makes no sense.

I'll give an example of an event I created in the first RPG Maker.

(Note: all the switches being turned on, do nothing but trigger the 2 page of that event, that is blank)

Every event has a graphic of a ladder, and all this string of events do, is basically make a animation of a ladder being raised(they're getting onboard a airship if you must know).

(lets say there are 6 ladder events, I think there was more, but It's not important)

Event 1

Move up 1 command

activate switch

Take over event 2

Event 2

Move up 1

Activate Switch

Take over event 3

and repeat, but with another switch tied to the 2nd page of its event, and taking over the next event after it.

I also made a roof explosion event that utilized the take over event command as well(and those events were well spread out, and stationary)..

PS. These forums love to crash at the worst possible time, doesn't it sigh?

Whenever there is a cutscene (and automatically "raising a ladder" by moving events IS a cutscene), then you should have ONE event controlling everything else, and all other events only being empty providers for the sprites on the map (no multiple pages, no commands, nothing - you can even change the sprite by move route command).

Shifting control between events not only uses up switches and variables very fast, it also has a lot of other issues once the cutscenes become more complex. So better start doing it correctly in minor cutscenes.

So you should create one event that controls the cutscene using move route commands for all other events, like

command move event 1 up one

command move event 2 up one

command move event 3 up one

and so on, all in a single event. No need for your switches or multiple pages at all.

Oh ok, I see what you're talking about now, so it would be move event 1

activate switch

move event 2

activate switch 2

ect, then.

Wait but wouldn't you still need 1 switch for each dummy event, so to make each ladder icon disappear as needed?

Depends on what exactly you want to do. Using a switch to make an event disappear is one option, alternatively you can change its sprite to empty by move command or a few other options.
sometimes it's more efficient to use a switch, other times it's better to change the sprite - and there are several ways how to use switches in those cases (for example have the single page conditioned to a switch means that the event doesn't exist until the switch is turned on).

Without more info about the scene I can't tell you what the best options were.

Oh yea, forgot about the change icon command(The 2nd option wouldn't work for the event in question though, but I know what you're talking about, and I used that method before for other events).

If I had a camcorder, I would so upload it to show off, It's such a awesome scene, not just the ladder segment, but the entire cutscene event overall, It's polishing/detailing on a scale you usually only see in commercial games(overly inflated budget ones at that). Come to think of it, mine is actually better then the ones seen in commercial games(I so need to get a hold of a camcorder, so I can put it on youtube, seriously it puts the similar scenes in like the FF games to shame)

Thanks.

No need for a camcorder, you just need one of several dozen (often free) game video capture programs
Search for "game video capture free" on google, you'll find several results

The problem is, is that game was made on the PS version of RPG Maker, so yea that wont work in this case.

However I may do that to show off some awesome maps(including the be all, end all of town maps) I created for a homebrew game, that the lead developer decided not to finish sigh.
