Hey, I'm trying to use Reedo's Simple Quest System (RSQS)

I don't use the editor, I use the "old way"...

I followed every step that says in the script/post but there is some kind of error that occurs when I try to launch the playtest...

This is the error:

script 'quest' line 505: SyntaxError occurred. unexpected $end, expecting keyword_end

reedo's script source

First off, do you have the requirements for this script:

##  REQUIREMENTS##cr##  1) Requires RSQS Editor available at:##  http://forums.rpgmak...st-system-beta/##  or seperate configuration script to setup quests.####  2) Requires on-map events and/or common events to manage quests.   Secondly, if yes perhaps you should post a link to where you got the script rather than your copy of said script. So that those wanting to help you can both more easily find the requirements (which would be needed to test anything) and determine whether it is an error with the script and not a user error because they are testing an edited script. You also might wish to include information on which other scripts you might be using and their order, as if none of these are the solution it is most likely a script conflict.

Edit: Try recopying from the source code. When I try the one you posted I get said error however trying from the source produces no such error. So it has to be either you didn't copy the script completely or else a user error while editing.

Well, I am no scripter, but in my experience, that kind of error generally means there is an 'end' missing. Perhaps you missed a line when you copy pasted? Or you have too many 'end's but if you haven't edited the script yourself, it seems unlikely.

based on alexander's post, I think you either copied not the full script, or you have edited it and done it quite a bit wrong...

I realize this reply is a bit late, but the error indicates that you accidently added a '$' character before the final "end" statement of the script.  So as the others have noted, you've somehow corrupted the script.

Line 505 is the last line of the script and should just be the word "end".  Try pasting the original script from the forum again.

Actually from my experience, that error is more of a case of a missing end actually (which can be anywhere in the script based on my experience)

RMMV
I've removed the script from your post. If it's available on the original site, we prefer you to just post a link. If you can't provide a link and need to post the script, use
Code:
tags, not [QUOTE] tags, to enclose it, and if it's a big script like this one, wrap the whole lot in [SPOILER] tags.[/QUOTE]

[/SPOILER]

No, $end is indicative of the end of input -- in this case, the end of your particular script. It has nothing to do with a literal $ symbol. The error means exactly what's been said before in this topic: the end keyword is missing somewhere which causes the error once the end of the file is reached, thus... unexpected $end, expected keyword_end.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
