I can no longer access my project due to an "Unexpected File Format" error.

I have tried creating a new project and copying and pasting my Audio, Data and Graphics Folders.

I then get an error in the new project saying "Failed to Load Actor Data".

I was about 2 weeks away from completing the entire project when this happened.

Please. Any help would be appreciated.

when exacly was this happen? did you scan your system or repair before re-open the project?
did you had a backup? if it was this case, there might be a corrupted file.

to test this, create a new project, open the js folder -> copy the js files (except plugins) into your project.
and test if it works by then. no need to share a link to your project.

was better for the screenshot with the error and console log to figure out the root of the problem.

I was working on the project 9 hours ago.
Everything was fine.

I saved my project closed my laptop and went to bed.

When I woke up my laptop was off rather than in sleep mode like it's supposed to be.

I turned on the laptop and went to access my project. And I got this error.

I created a new project. Copy and pasted all my materials.

And when I access the new project I get another error message "Failed to Load Actor Data."

It isn't just Actor Data. I tried copying everything into a third new project and left out the Actor Data. This time it was "Failed to Load Tilesets" .

Files easily get corrupted when your computer shuts down.

Always have a back-up of your project.

Firstly, you have to identify which file has been corrupted. You said "failed to load actor data" which indicates it's the actors data file. I suggest to rename this file to something else so that you don't lose it (something like actors_corrupt) Create a new project again, and copy this brand new actors file and drop it into your own project. Try starting your project again.

You will have lost any actor data, but at least you can open your project again.

Actor Data, Armors Data, Classes Data, Enemies Data, Items Data, Skills Data, States Data, Troops Data, Tilesets Data, Weapons Data.

All failed to load.

With the Tilesets Data even copying it from a fresh project doesn't seem to work.
I still get the failed to load message.

I think this is the end for this project...

Have you tried the opposite? New project, and copying your old files into it one by one, to see if it starts?

If you do not have a backup, you are most likely out of luck.
The only thing you can do is to find if any of the files still work.
Make a copy of your project.
Copy over the actors file with a default actor file from a blank project.
Still get error?
copy over the file that shows up in the message (you said tileset)
continue doing this until you either get it working or you replace all files.

if the entire database was corrupted, then most likely the map files (minus the one you worked on last) will be the only ones that can be saved.
And this is why we always tell everyone to make backups of their projects - not only for RPG-Makers but for everything.
(For example I know of an architectural bureau that lost all data on a 80K$ work one day before it was due to a computer failure and had no backups).

If you want to try to save your maps and rebuild your lost database, post here and we'll tell you how to do that.

And for your next project I suggest one of the autobackup-scripts that are available for VXA...

Do you have the steam version? If so it could be the cloud version is corrupted and not your project. I ran into that one once, and just moving the project to a new directory fixed it.

Also if you are using the steam version you could try restoring the cloud version if the original is gone too.

Easy way to find out is hit the icon to play the game directly (not inside the editor, but the one in the directory with your project). If it works still and you hit no issues, then the issue is the steam cloud version got corrupted.

Apparently you have windows 8 and you placed the pc in suspend mode, many people who have that operating system leave the suspend mode or leave it on, then turn off corrupting data. I say it because a friend of mine happened to him that all the time.

(If you search the internet you will find many cases.)

I recommend buying a high capacity pendrive for backups for the next.

Hopefully this link works correctly
No, it doesn't. It immediately redirects me to the login site of Microsoft OneDrive.

Thanks everyone for your answers.
I have come to the conclusion that my project is beyond repair.
I'm starting over.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
