Unexpected File format?

Every time I try to open my saved project this error pops up, how do I fix it?

Um - what engine are you using?  This is not a tech question, so should have gone into the support forum for the appropriate engine.  Is that the COMPLETE error message?

Shaz' Question means which of the RPG Maker Programs you're using - your Profile says RMVXA, but a lot of people switched to RMMV already. And that makes a difference.


But basically that message means that something (usually a crash of Windows) has destroyed one or more files of your project, and now you can only try to save as much as possible from backup or other options.

Oh then I'm still using RMVXA. 


Oh and I figured out the error only happens when I use or even just look at sample maps, and it won't load my backups either, it says the same thing.

If that happens when using the sample maps, then those files have been damaged, and you'll need to reinstall to restore them.

I uninstalled it and downloaded it again and it still has the same problem.

It seems that the project is corrupted. Make a new one and then copy the game.rvproject and replace the one in your older project. See if it fixes that.
