FL Studio is on my laptop but I never really used it. And what time zone are you in? I'm not going to publicly ask "Hey, announce your address on the internet, but I'd like to get an idea of the time difference
GMT + 0 - I live in the UK

I'm actually getting ready to record a video, and this is going to be the first video of a podcast series about Uniques United and more particularly, it's development. This should answer a lot of questions people may have about the game, and the story itself.

UPDATE: If you noticed in past versions, your characters made different sounds (not screams or anything but the funky brick/metal impact noises) when they took different amounts of damage. Well soon, the enemies will do the same thing, and not make the same sound upon being hit. I'm also adding some unique sounds to play when they die.

The next version will be 0.0.23, but it won't be released just yet, as there's some stuff I have to fix.

UPDATE: I've been looking to foreign cultures, music, and even foreign let's players for inspiration on ways to enrich the game's atmosphere. And I have not returned empty-handed. :)

I've recently found an Egyptian singer named Dalida and her music is absolutely incredible. Here's a song that rekindled my childhood fascination with Ancient Egypt:




The next month will be focused more on the story and the cultural aspects behind it, and not so much on gameplay, although both will be given a healthy amount of attention. Just that the game's story is really unclear right now and needs something to give it a start. :)

Okay guys, a quick update:

I am now moving on to the very first map of the actual game. It takes place in a forest and Miranda will be the first playable character. The starting location is inside a cave somewhere in the forest. There are bandits and wild animals roaming throughout the forest, but inside the cave, you're safe.

Also, it will be a while before the next update is released because there are some major changes coming, especially with the battle mechanics. I will continue to post updates from time to time, and I will occasionally stream Uniques United live on Twitch. The recordings will be saved (assuming they don't get lost) and you'll be able to see the game's progress.

I will also be on the lookout for an artist and a scripter, especially an artist. I am moving towards having completely custom content and that will be achieved before I move from alpha to beta.

UPDATE: There are going to be quite a number of design changes as the game transitions from alpha to beta. The combat system will function like that of Might and Magic VI for lack of a better explanation:




Turns will be based on a timer where your characters attack speed is measured in seconds or milliseconds. The higher the characters' attack speed, the less time it takes for that character to act. To do this, it's necessary to have multiple enemies attack at once but in sequential order, which means enlisting the help of a scripter.

One major goal of Uniques United as a game is to go full-on custom-built assets, UI, portraits, you name it. When the game is finished, there will be no sign of any RTP content used.

EDIT: And yes, the enemies you fight will be animated.

Ladies and gentlemen, it's time.

We're moving from alpha to beta. This is where the game's story begins to enter the scene.

The next few months will be mostly planning, networking, and preparation. Getting things organized so we enter the beta with class. :)

The alpha will be polished as best as possible and released to the public. That will take some time to finish, but I will post updates on the game's progress. So far, there is a new character, Simon, and a few starting weapons and skills already implemented.

Ladies and gentlemen, I've decided it would be best to go with another engine for Uniques United. RPG Maker VX Ace was a great start, but with the direction the game's development is turning, it has grown outside what RPG Maker is currently capable of. I've tinkered with scripts, played with numbers, and did all kinds of cool things with the alpha, but it's just not enough.

If you guys absolutely want, I can finish the alpha I had planned from the start, but that's about as far as it will go before I switch to another engine to restart the project.

I want to thank all of you who played the early builds and provided the feedback you gave.

Despite having spent 5 months on this game as it currently exists, I don't think too many people will miss it. I'm just glad to have made something of it.

I'll be locking this thread soon but before I do, I'd love to hear your feedback. What did you want to see?
