Description of the feature:
  • All of the upper layer tiles are combined into one image à la RMXP.
  • This one image (again, à la XP) can be whatever height, but would always be 384 pixels wide. (That's the size that the tilesets are rearranged to in the editor)
  • All of the B-E tileset tabs would be combined.
  • P.S. I don't know how VX or VXA worked, I don't have those engines. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Code for implementation:
Not a programmer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Mockups:
See attached file. This is how the RTP upper layer image would look. (But 50% size)

Why is this feature good?

  • RMMV's tileset capacity is severely limited. This would basically take away the limit, so that the only limit would be the memory on your computer. (There's NO way you'd want a tileset THAT large is there?)
Possible issues with this feature?
  • Not really an issue per se, but technically different maps will need different tiles, so you could technically probably just make a bunch of different tilesets, but that would be a lot of trouble. So I guess this isn't an actual issue, so ignore this part. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There are a lot of technical issues with this (which were part of the good reasons why this was intentionally abandoned after XP). And allowing unlimited tilesets would basically make porting to mobile devices (with less capacity than a full computer) impossible.
So absolutely no chance of getting this implemented - please create different tilesets if you want different combinations of tiles on a single map.

Well, that's a bummer. :/ Oh, well. I haven't really had any need for it (yet).
Btw, I didn't get a notification for this reply...?

Just question. Instead of the huge tile-set/ Strip method like XP, would it be possible to instead allow for more "tabs" with the tile file sizes remaining the same? In this way, you're just loading up "pages" of tiles like before except now you can load more tiles onto one map due to having a couple- or few- more tab spaces. May be impossible but I had to ask!

Well, maybe in the next iteration of RPG Maker, then? We all know that several Makers survive the test of time and the release of the new versions (XP, VX Ace...), so having a version (MV) focused on offering mobile support and the next one going full-on desktop development (and thus, allowing for the extra tilesets - better yet if it's possible to do as @Sal-O-Mac wrote of multiple tabs) would not affect the profitability (sp?) of the next engine.

I know this forum section is about the current engine - MV - butas we all known, what can't be done in MV surely can be worked out to work on RPG Maker 2020 ;)

@Pine Towers ANOTHER RPGM engine? As much as I would like to have more options, memory capacity, etc., It wouldn't be worth the $100+ that it would probably cost. It might be reasonable to have one 7-10 years from now, but, as it is, it seems redundant to make another engine now. Oops, this isn't really the place to discuss this. :hswt:

@Nutty171 , as I said, in the next iteration. I, too, don't want a new Maker for the next years, but since MV is advertised to be able to deliver Mobile (heck, it is Mobile Version - MV), something like the suggestion could only be made in an engine that doesn't have such restrictions in size.

@Pine Towers Well, yeah, the more I think about it, it would be great to have a fully-fledged desktop version with modern tech 'n' stuff. As long as it doesn't come out for a while. :p

EDIT: Well, there's another RPGM engine coming this year... (The one for 3DS)

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
