Hi,

I am wondering if there is a way to unlock certain Equipment Types throughout the game. So far I have not found any way to control which Equipment types show up for what Actor/Class or when. It seems like all Equipment types are automatically added to everyone.

Does anyone know of a way to control this, and if not is there a plugin for this?

Thanks!

The equip types are defined by the traits - an actor can only use the equipment if he has the equip type for it in the traits.

Equip types can be defined in the types tab in the database if you want different actors have different equips.

However, traits are static - once given in the database, that is it unless you're using a dynamic trait plugin to add or remove traits during game.

Thanks for the reply! However I can't find how to change the Equipment Types in the Actor Traits.
Yes, I can choose the Skill, Armor or Weapon 'Types' (for example one actor can use swords, the other staffs, the other magic etc...)

But I can not find how to define the global Equipment Type (for example Armor, Weapon, Accessory) that is defined in the Database Types top right section and shown in the Equip menu.

You can change the armor types, weapon types and things like that in in the database, in the section terms(if mv is like ace), then you can change the equipment according to the class in the features option, by adding more stuff in there

Ah, I think I see the issue here. Rather than wanting to stop actors equipping certain types of weapon or armour, you want to actually control which equipment types they even see in their equip menu rather than all of them having all slots?

OK, it's a mixup on terminology - sorry about that.

To equip something, two conditions need to be fulfilled: the actor needs to have the equip slot and the trait for the aromor/weapon type.

By default, the engine assumes all actors have the same equip slots, because they are like "left hand, right hand, body" etc.
But while everyone has a weapon hand, not everyone is trained in the use of every weapon - that is why for each equipment, bot the equip type and the weapon/armor type needs to be set.
The equipment type determines where you equip it (in which slot), the armor/weapon type determines what a specific actor can equip there.
So the default games use armor/weapon type to determine what can by equipped by which actor, not equip types.

Giving different actors different equip slots is like giving the actors a different number or arms or legs or whatever to equip something to.
It can only be done by plugins, but there are already several plugins that do so.
Most people seem to prefer Yanfly's equip core plugin, but that is static - it gives different actors different slots, but those are set and cannot be changed. If you want to enable/disable slots by game progression, you need a dynamic equip plugin - Tsukihime's Equip core can do that for example.

Thanks for the insight. And yeah I agree the basic logic is is that actors would have the same equip slots, given that you use that logic to begin with. If you were to say turn equip slots into something like Weapon, Body, Head, Magic Orb and you only wanted certain players to have a slot to equip say the Magic Orbs, this would not be possible by default.

I'm using Yanfly Equip Core but I hadn't discovered that feature yet. Either way, I'm looking for enabling through game progression so I will def look at Hime's plugin!

So thanks for the help!!
