Here's my entry!


I worked with the artist that did my title screen from last year. Came out looking really good. Girl was on fire with putting out work.


Is that what that was? Lol. He was the only comment I had on my gamepage so I was wondering what that was all about. Of course I'd rather have 0 comments than that nonsense. What's his problem with Escalia?
My game probably made him jealous and butthurt 'cause it couldn't beat his, or whatever. Pathetic and childish really.

I can still modify mine (even the download link, but I'm not touching that), in terms of rules if that is your question, that should be safe, but I will ask in the gamedevfort forums, to be certain.

Edit: Actually that was already answered. Yes, it is perfectly fine to update the page. Just not the game (Obviously).

My post had to be approved and wound up on the bottom of the prior page. So, reposting...

Are the bugs the result of add-on scripts not being compatible with each other?

I entered the contest with my first game, not counting the little game I made just to learn RPG Maker when I bought it. It is just a 1 hour game since that is all they are judging, and no bugs since the only script I added was a mouse script. It is almost a demo for Darren Curtis music since it heavily relies on his music. Like, 3 pieces in the game are not his. But nothing buggy. The only non-standard thing I did though was a magic to transform items. And a new sort of magic attack, but it just combined existing attack types.

Or are the bugs to watch for the result of longer games having more switches and variables and the ways players might go out of order and get some odd dialogue or worse, out of place events?

My game is Growing Pains, if anyone would lilke to check it out.

Bugs in general, ones others have and so are things to be careful of when making games.

Totally depends on the person making it but typos are really prevalent. Probably the most seen "bugs". Other than that yeah, cutscenes that get skipped/repeated, because the player wandered off the "path", so switches and variables as you mentioned. 

Script bugs happen as well, but less often than you'd think, because script bugs are most of the times a lot more and sooner noticable, than switches and variables. (<- This is from a playtester perspective, a developper probably sees them more)

Other type of common bugs are: missing files, transparancy issues with sprites (and tiles), passabilty/priority errors, map errors, wrong faces/busts/names, etc.
