What are some opinions you have on stuff that are really unpopular? I'll start.

League of Legends hasn't been a good game for 7 years. It's been horrible and Riot Games openly admitted to stealing concepts and content from Defense of the Ancients, like Teemo has been admitted to be a rip off of a concept IceFrog came up with which eventually became Goblin Techies.

Harry Potter is terrible. The books are terrible. The movies are terrible. The story is terrible. The only good thing that ever came out of the Harry Potter universe were a few somewhat exciting theme park rides (which would have been good even if they weren't HP themed) and ONE single video game, (the first one)

Almost everything produced after 2008 on television and in the cinema is garbage and I know this is cliche because "lol ur just old" but its legitimately true and you know it and kids just don't know what they're missing because all the great TV shows aren't syndicated anymore, and all the great music doesn't get played on the radio very much.

MIDI is still my fave file extension despite the advancement of technology. People left and right are listening to popular sound format like mp3/ogg/flac while I'm here sometimes switching my playlist to hundreds if not thousands of my MIDI collection (I haven't really counted it yet). The fact that how does it sounds like depends on what synthesizer you picked makes it more interesting. My fave MIDI music might sounds different and give different feeling when I picked different synthesizer. Like, what if I play this in my phone?

The file size is also efficient in my opinion. A lot of people often think "Does it matter? we're on the era of Terabytes and fast internet, why bother?". I always think that music file size is not efficient. A Touhou game has approximately 90% of its size was coming from the music itself. While I don't see anything could be different if the music is synthesized by MIDI. The game size may neglectable in this era, but I can't stop of being bothered about it. This is also the fact that the main reason I don't use MV. I really wish MIDI won't die any time in future.

-----------------------
I might have some more, but this is the currently one pop'd up on my head

Shonen Anime is the worst anime, the most basic kind of anime that is extremely predictable and boring. It is anime for the Lowest Common Denominator.

Oh, The RTP in RPG Maker Engines is good. I genuinely enjoy the art style and wish they'd make more assets for the default art style, but instead we get really wildly crazy stuff that I don't think looks all that great. At least, not for an engine that uses grids and sprites. Alas, I'm in the minority as anyone who is "serious" about making an RPG Maker game universally says to ditch all default assets and commission your own.

WoW sucks and has always sucked.

The last good Call of Duty game was Black Ops 1. Franchise has gone steadily downhill since then (especially since after that game, they removed any form of strategic or tactical gameplay from the franchise at all).

Dark Souls is a terribly put together game.

The Witcher franchise has absolutely terrible controls and gameplay elements.

Mass Effect 2 was the worst in the franchise until Andromeda.

Sony PlayStation hasn't had a good game to play on it since PlayStation 1, when it used to have all the RPGs.

Pokémon's story has been trending downhill quickly since Ruby/Sapphire. Same with the combat and the quality of new Pokémon.

MOBA's suck, except for Smite, which lets you actually customize your characters as well as play strategically.

MMOs are too devoid of content to really be worthwhile, especially with their excessive grinds and insane drop rates.

Physical games are better because digital games can always be taken away from you, if the service providing them shuts down.

Funerals, Weddings, and Graduations are just about the most boring things to ever attend. Yep, even if you know the people.

Most water tastes absolutely disgusting.

All perfumes and colognes smell like crap.

SAO was a good anime until the second arc of Season 1... Same with Season 2 of SAO... second arc is terrible.

Dragon Ball Z is absolutely a terrible anime. It's as exciting as watching Paint Dry.

Monster movies are infinitely superior to "slasher", "ghost", and "demon" movies in every possible way. Yep, even Kaiju movies are vastly superior.

Dashing in a game without limits is terrible design. Yep, even in RPG Maker games. It should be conditional or limited in some way, otherwise it serves no purpose to have a toggle since everyone just holds down "run" at all times. Terrible engine design to not allow people to mess with it except via scripts.

Cats are vastly superior to dogs in every possible way.

Most clothing looks like crap, fashion has been dead for the last 60 years and has turned into boring junk that simply competes with other boring junk to show off as much skin as possible.

When you lose your license for any reason, all of your vehicles should also be impounded to prevent you from driving without a license. You should also be unable to purchase a vehicle if you lost your license.

Aeris dying in Final Fantasy 7 wasn't really all that sad. It was kind of cliché.

Final Fantasy 7 is a pretty terrible entry into the franchise, especially when compared against Final Fantasy 5, 6, and 9.

Too many brands of chips (especially Sun Chips) don't have enough flavor on them.

Most games these days, including Indie Titles... frankly suck.

Music hasn't been good since sometime around 2006.

Cellphones are the worst invention in the world.

I have a long list.

My list:

Pokemon stopped being good after the first Black and White and X and Y- B2W2 and beyond is trash.
Follow-up: DPPt is overrated.

Pendulum Summons and Link Summons ruined YuGiOh, and honestly, Pendulums and Links contradict each other.

The Metal Saga and Zero-G Saga of Beyblade's story is trash that needs to be thrown into a burning dumpster- the toys from this series, though, is on the opposite side of the spectrum, as Metal Saga had some of the best design-to-functionality ratios I have ever seen in the Beyblade series as a whole.

Xcalius X2 is better than Xcalius X1 and Seig Xcalius, and you can't change my mind.

Guardians in BotW deserved much better AIs than what they ended up getting- they are less threatening than they could be with their current AI.

Naruto became bad after the Chunin Exam arc.

Everyone who says Stain is a terrible villain in My Hero Academia is a hypocrite. He has been one of the best written villains I haveever seen in any medium.... Yes, even better than an icon like Darth Vader.

The SPC fandom is very underrated- they have been the second nicest community next to RPG Maker community. If given the chance, you'd find a SPC that interests you if you can look past the horror movie+ level of design of some SPCs.

Fantasy weapons have too many serrated edges and impractical features.

"End him rightly!" deserves to be a top-tier meme.

Miiverse wasn't all that bad.

@Tai_MT I actually agree with most of what you said, and the only things I disagree with are because you didn't go hard enough.

Call of Duty 4 was the last good Online CoD, MW2 was the last good storyline.

Dark Souls is pure overrated garbage, and even "die hard" fans haven't heard of the vastly superior original, "Demon's Souls" which was better in every single way.

I'd say that almost all Anime is bad, at least anything made in the last 10-15 years. Fan Service has basically overtaken everything and it's hard to find new series which don't have SOME fan-service, it's kind of ironic that I feel this way since Divergence Eve is one of my favorites, but ehh.

The only things I actually disagree with are:
Cats VS Dogs. I'd say that toxoplasma gondii outweighs every positive aspect of cats. They literally make people insane.
And FF7 being a bad installment. It's great for what it is, but you're also right about 4, 5 and 6 being superior, but 7 is better than a lot of other installments.

I'd also like to add that Rebecca Sugar is a terrible creator and literally nothing she does has ever been good. Her "cartoons" are basically propaganda to push her hyper SJW values on children.

Clannad is only an average VN, and is heavily overrated.

Uncharted 3 feels like someone made the entire game over a bad pastrami sandwich.

Persona 5 isn't as good as Persona 4.

Steam needs to curate their new releases. Wait...I don't think that's an unpopular opinion :).

Oh wow, that cellphone thing is interesting... I do wish landline phones would still be used since phone numbers used to be associated with location.

About the MIDI thing, I definitely love the size of MIDI. I don't know good places to get any, however, so I have a very small amount of them.

I also love pixel art for the small size. In fact, I actually think pixel art is the best art, besides physical drawings where you can see the texture of the art. I love how powerful the color of pixel art is and it looks really great in animation. It is a lot of hard work, but it is worth it. I think normal digital art is all terrible. Those artists that get tons of popularity just don't feel good for me 99% of the time. I rather look at sketches, which are extremely unpopular for some reason, but color does add a lot admittedly.

I think typical RPG design is bad. Unless you make a high difficulty or high strategy RPG or give the player a lot of useful skills, it starts to feel too bland once the initial excitement wears off, even with the story, despite how good it might be. It seems like Strategy RPGs are the natural progression, but they are pretty scarce now. But somehow, I think Chrono Trigger is still a perfect example of an RPG, I guess partly because of its skill-learning system.

I think water is the best drink and never really liked soda at all unless it was special and zesty. Although, I do think milkshake is my favorite food/dessert, it just isn't practical enough for me to think it is the best.

I think that the population should not decrease because people can improve the land rather than degrade it and we have a whole lot of empty land where people could be doing that.

I think coffee and cars are really bad for the mentality of people because they always feel like they should be some place or another and many don't settle down at all until old age. People can't hang out just to be with people, they have to do an activity to distract them. I really don't think the fast paced world is good. People just become secretly more dishonest, unproductive and uncaring because of it. We lose our sense of community pretty much everywhere that is touched by the American style culture in that way.

Herbs and spices are somewhat more important than vegetables. Not all vegetables (such as lettuce, corn, zucchini and cucumber) are really healthy. It's just another group of foods after all. Vegetables give the nutrients that support the body's functions and makes sure everything is working properly and vitamins are not very useful ways to get those nutrients unless you are careful. You can absorb a higher amount of nutrients in vegetables than you can when using pills. However, spices help defeat the bad things in the body that your body can not do so well against and they can bring more immediate aid.

Almost all popular Visual Novels are bad. My favorite Visual Novel person is Ebi-hime, who is an English Visual Novel maker and most people say they are bad. Sex scenes ruin most visual novels because the writing lowers in quality after those points.

I don't get what all the rage is about Final Fantasy. Yeah, I said it!

Or Kingdom Hearts. I can feel your stares

Fortnite is boring. As a matter of fact, I think the whole battle royale genre is gonna died hard like that MOBA phase we had around 2015-2016. I like H1Z1, though. I only wish there were zombies on the map with the players.

RPG Maker VX is awesome; so what if mapping is limited. I still use it and love it to this day.

I don't like turn-based battle systems. Leaving my fate up to chance doesn't seem fair to me. That's not to say I won't play a game with turn-based battles. The story has to be enthralling like Star Stealing Prince and KNight Blade.

@Lothloran

Call of Duty 4 was okay. I found the story to be boring, cliché, and fairly predictable. Everyone was so blown away by the "You die from nuclear radiation" bit and I was just like, "Man, when will this be over? Can I go to the next mission yet? I know you're trying to be poignant, but it's intellectual sophistry for those without brains." Basically, it bored me to tears as other games had done far more gut-wrenching things that it ever does... and books I'd read went into far greater detail on such things than a game that simply hinders your controls until it decides to move you to the next mission. Even the crap in the freakin' car where all you can do is look around until they shoot you in front of a camera. I was bored to tears. Well, okay, except that one time the game glitched out and let me pick up a gun through the floor of the car while we were moving and I got to shoot everyone dead... and was then killed by invisible people without guns in front of a camera. That was pretty amusing.

I don't think any of the Call of Duty storylines have really ever been interesting or good. Okay, I lied, I liked World at War. For me, the only real draw of the franchise was the multiplayer, online or otherwise. Once it ceased being tactical and map design started to get worse (and levels became uncomfortably small with only 3 lanes across them and no way to sneak), they stopped being good. Lowering the Skill Curve didn't help either.

I never played Demon's Souls. Most of my problems with Dark Souls is that the game is just poorly designed. Enemies kill you until you die enough times that you figure out how to win. Ever see that episode of Robot Chicken where they play "The Memory Game!"? Same concept. The frequent "unfair" deaths robbed my desire to continue playing. It only gets worse when the game becomes the easiest thing imaginable once you have memorized how to do everything. Fake Difficulty everywhere. No challenge to really be had. Plus, the terrible controls really didn't help anything. Others are free to enjoy the game, but I find it to largely be a waste of time and frustrating for the sake "elitist gatekeeping". Once you figure out how to kill an enemy without being hit, you can kill them every single time they show up, without damage. The controls themselves were very unresponsive. I was experiencing half second delays from when I'd push a button to when an animation started. So, I not only had to time my swings, but time when the animation would start before the swing as well. It was very awkward. I found it to just be an absolute mess. Maybe it's better on PC, I dunno. The console version was terrible, especially with the "delays before animations start" nonsense.

As for anime... Depends on what you want to watch. There are plenty out there without any fanservice if that's not your thing. I watch a lot of different genres and types, including those that are super fanservice heavy. But, I've got to be in the right mood for whatever I'm watching. It's easier to find really great anime if you just look for things with an interesting premise and not some arbitrary, "I'm not going to watch this because it has X in it". But, that's my experience. For the longest time I didn't like "giant robot anime" because I found Gundam to be so boring and silly and too much like Shonen. Turns out, there's a lot of really great "giant robot anime", if you just read the premise and watch it based on that... instead of based upon whether or not it's got robots in it. I just look for a story that I want to hear. That being said, it's not everyone's cup of tea, and the vast majority of what I watch and enjoy isn't anywhere near close to "mainstream". I'd have you busy for about two years with all the great obscure anime I've ever watched.

My problem with FF7 is that it's graphics are terrible. It is the only game I've ever played where the in game graphics have physically harmed me (namely, my eyes, and in places, my brain as it tried to decipher just WTF I was looking at). It also has a nonsensical storyline that only gets more nonsensical as they release supplementary material to try to "clarify" it (spin off games, movies, manga...). The characters were largely unlikable as well... which is prolly why people were sad Aeris dies... because she's frankly the only likable one among the cast. It's also filled with tons of tedium and a tutorial area that lasts like 5 hours (to the point that players of it often tell you, "Oh, you didn't even get out of Midgar. The game doesn't begin until then", which is frankly terrible game design). Final Fantasy 8 ended up being pretty much exactly Final Fantasy 7... without the polish. It was basically the exact same game, and lots of people hated it... but loved Final Fantasy 7. Boggled my mind. Well, I guess FF8 did add a LOT more tedium than FF7 had.

I am a big Dark Souls fan (though I prefer Demon Souls). I think the games are only hard on your first play through and the gate keeping side of things isn't so much the games fault as it is just toxic gaming culture in general. I could never call the games controls bad, just different and deliberately so, now i'm playing remastered especially the control decisions make more sense to me.

That said that's obviously not an unpopular opinion...

What IS an unpopular opinion is that Dark Souls 2 is better than Dark Souls 3 and its one I believe wholeheartedly despite 3 being better designed generally speaking.

95% of RPG Maker games are fricking terrible.
Agree.
99% of the RPG Maker games on Steam have no business being on there.
Agree.
The combat in the first Neir game is fun.
Never played it but have seen gameplay. Definitely looks interesting.
Avocado is gross.

Final Fantasy 8 was my favorite in the series. My second favorite is 5 and third favorite is 10. I don't think Final Fantasy 7 was bad at all. (Except I hated the Aerith death scene. I thought it was really stupid even though I was young.) But overall, I think Final Fantasy is the worst in the big RPG franchises. My main problem is how so many spells/skills become irrelevant because monsters have way too many immunities and usually the only way to find them is tedious experimenting or getting a guide book... Although, I think I could possibly hate Dragon Quest more. Even though everyone says Dragon Quest 8 was wonderful, I thought it was mostly horrible. The pacing of the gameplay is just way too slow, in addition to the skill learning system, and those weapons/skills had a pretty strong tier list enforcement.

By the way, guide books were like the best thing ever to me. Sure they ruin the experience of working through the game yourself if you use them as a crutch, but they ones I had were works of art that actually made me more hyped to go through the game. Not sure if this is actually an unpopular opinion since almost nobody talks about guide books around me anyways.

I don't like most Zelda games simply because they often give you a puzzle (but they are not quite puzzles in the first place and the worst are even featured early in the games) that is unimaginably obtuse and stupid. If it wasn't for guides and talking to other players, a lot more people probably would have hated the games. The games act like they are instructive for beginners, but then they always have things that are not really a real puzzle, but were nearly impossible to figure out and locked off most of the game if you couldn't think of it. Good examples for me would be entering Snowfall, as well as a few other parts of Majora's Mask, getting to Saria to receive her song in the Lost Woods before you can really get into the Death Mountain quest, figuring out how to start up the game in Link to the Past and figuring out the Forest Temple in Ocarina of Time at all.

I really miss when fighting games had unlockable characters. It took me a long time to start liking fighting games again when they started getting rid of the incentive of unlockable characters. Unlockable characters made me so hype to try anything I could think of to get all of the content in a game and I would also really value the new characters when otherwise I might not have cared for them much at all. Because of business, it is very unlikely that we will see a fighting game with a bunch of major unlockables like characters ever again.

I think anime hair colors are usually really bad. I really can't stand blue hair the most. I think it always looks ugly. Pink hair always feels meaningless somehow. Green hair can be done well, but practically only if the character has nature/wind powers. Lavender and purple hair can look really bad even though I am a fan of gray and black hair, maybe because I feel like they should have just done those colors.

I really dislike funerals and "respect for the dead" and similar things, but I don't think marriage is bad. I think funerals should not be required because it just costs poor people money (although they usually don't use their money together in smart ways in the first place).

Is it okay to post links to your game when its completed in the profile posts here? I'm wondering because I've never done it out of concern it may come off as gauche, or may be against some rule or something, but I've seen others do it.
