Unpopular Opinion: The kind of people who use an unpopular opinion thread to try to make a point about how most people are dumb, or are sheep, or any other insulting commentary on the human condition, always think that they are somehow exempt from their own condemnation, even though they are just as bad as anyone else.
Going down the same road as the bandwagon doesnt make it the wrong direction to go and turning around when you notice the bandwagon doesnt make you any different than someone riding in it. Your comment here looks like it was written by the people youre complaining about.

Not looking to start an internet battle i dont think either of us enjoy that kind of thing. Im expressing my actual opinion on your opinion im not trying to resolve my authority problems by winning the internet wars to prove im the most powerful internet forum user.

Oh, I've got a great unpopular opinion. JK Rowling is a terrible writer. Terrible. And not just that, she's a terrible person who can't live without attention.
I know this is old news but that Voldemort character, she made a tweet a while back saying "har har, ebryburdy ib bronouningb hibs nambe wong, ibs actulbly VOLDEMORRRRR"

I just sat through a 15 minute youtube video with every instance of the word Voldemort being spoken in the films, and guess how they pronounce it. WITH THE T.
Guess who supervised the films and was on set to make sure the filmmakers didn't screw up the story or mess up the continuity. JK Rowling. Guess who had 12 years to correct them on the set. JK F-ing Rowling. Guess who let dozens of actors pronounce the name wrong. JK MF-ing ROWLING.

I hope she gets hit by a bus. God, I hate her.

@Countyoungblood : Drop it please. We want this to be a discussion on unpopular opinions, and that is just egging on another member.

@Lothloran : Please don't use wish or hope they get hit by a bus. In some cultures that is seen as death threats and we do not approve of that. I know in others it is seen as a bad joke, but some countries take that one very seriously, and since we are an international forum we need to keep that in mind.

Wishing people you dislike ill = death threats? Damn, teenage me was a literal ****ing terrorist then, considering death threats are felonies I should legally probably be in jail right now...I'm sorry for starting ****, but that leap of logic trying to link flippant ire to actual criminal acts is just patently absurd. Don't get me wrong, I do find such ill-wishing crass, pointless and a waste of emotional energy at this point in my life, but to conjecture it into a death threat?

To keep this in the realm of not off topic I'll make this an unpopular opinion: There comes a point with certain cultural norms where tolerance, acceptance and all those other feel good words requires one to divorce their mind from reality and become willfully foolish in order to accommodate. Elevating crass, flippant statements to the level of criminally culpable death threats because of feelings is one such time.

@Philosophus Vagus : We had complaints on that basis, so I had to address it. We see it as harmless in our culture, but some others take it a tad more seriously. And this forum isn't the place to post things like that.

It's like we have some hand gestures that we see as innocent, but if you do them elsewhere you just insulted them gravely. I don't remember all of them, but there is one country where rubbing the area under your eye with your index finger is the equivalent of our version of giving them the bird. Why and why only the index finger? Don't ask me.

Better late than never friend. Though ironically the post i was responding to was very much intended to insult someone posting here for sharing their unpopular opinion.

What do i have to say to get the unhinged free pass?

After reading the last two pages of posts here... I have a new unpopular opinion.

I'm beginning to think this thread was started for the sole reason of arguing with other people. It's unpopular, but it's my opinion. :D

I mean, why else would you have a thread about unpopular opinions? Unpopular opinions by their very nature spark controversy and debate, to do otherwise would disprove their unpopularity.

I personally think that's healthy, it's only when people start getting dogmatic that an argument devolves into pointless banality. When that happens just disengage until the topic changes again, the worst way to react to someone being dogmatic is to refute them, it's like a challenge and only insures further derailments.

Well, I took it that we were just saying our own perceived unpopular opinions. Just because we perceive them as unpopular, does not mean that they are. I mean, the thread doesn't say, "Let's debate your unpopular opinions". It just says, "Hey, list unpopular opinions you have". I figured you'd state them, if someone was curious, they'd ask why you have those opinions, and there'd be some kind of understanding.

I, certainly, didn't come into the thread under the impression that it was to start debates and arguments and throw ad hominems at each other while also constructing Strawmen arguments.

From the first few pages of the thread, that's pretty much exactly what was happening, too. People comparing opinions and asking each other "why". As well as saying, "Well, that opinion may not be that unpopular".

Honestly, I'll admit that I threw some of the fuel on the fire, but for the most part, the staff has tried pretty hard to redirect this thread away from subjects that would lead to flames.

There are plenty of places on the internet that you can write your opinions on serious subjects, but honestly I don't feel here is a good place for it. This forum has a lot of people of ages from young to old, from cultures all around the world. The multitude of experiences that we have had all will lead us to different core beliefs. And while I'm myself a fan of discussing those beliefs, debating them, and coming to an understanding, I also don't think that an RPG Maker site is the right place for it.

So basically, let's keep this thread to stuff that is either game related, or less serious, like the fact that pineapple doesn't go on pizza.

Otherwise we will close it.

EDIT: Also, since I can never be considered the same as others on the forum, it kind of ties my hands from actually discussing serious things on equal footing with everyone else. Which makes it doubly unfun for me, as 1. I don't feel like moderating something so heated and 2. I feel like I can't actually participate either.

@Touchfuzzy I'm honestly surprised that you all have allowed it to go as far as it has, my respects for that. My first thought upon seeing the title was that it'd be locked for its nature before it had enough replies to make a second page.

@Tai_MT that could have been the intent I guess, I'll admit I tend to take most everything too literally so I see the word unpopular and I assume the literal definition of the word is the intent without regard for impressions or perceptions.

Showers are better for getting clean, but nothing beats a bath in a garden tub for relaxing.

Also mobile phones are for texting, not making calls. But then again, I've always hated phone calls.

Here's one:

Magic and Mayhem isn't that bad a game, despite what the reviews said of it when it came out in the late 90's/early 00's. All reviews I read said they thought the AI of your companions was totally brain dead, and I found that in reality the AI was pretty good. in fact, usually the AI companions only died if I abandoned them completely and/or they got attacked by a force that would have overwhelmed the player if they were alone too.

Yikes, I guess lol.
I got reprimanded once for helping a guy in Spanish because this is an English speaking forum, so I didn't know that I had to juggle English only with every culture under the sun.

@Tai_MT
People can disagree with opinions without arguing with other people. Contradictions aren't arguments ;)
