In my game I sometimes update states through common events and variables using some plugins.

Is it possible to update the state display in the main menu without having to exit and reopen it? Say from the equip menu to main.

I'm using Galv's Magic Shards and Victor Sant's Passive States, along with a bunch of common events to manage this system of buffs I built.

that has nothing to do with states but with common events.

common events cannot run in the menu screen because the menu screen does not contain an event interpreter, only the map screen and the battle screen contain those.

So I would need a plugin to add an event interpreter to other screens.

    Alright. Thanks.

I'm not experienced as some here but I had a similar issue and I found that my passive states weren't visually updating unless I moved between maps or similar. My work around was that if I added a regular state (like Silence) to someone in my team (then removed it immediately) as part of the Event that changed the passive state, it would update the state display of the main menu.

If this is the same problem you're having, I hope this fix works!
