I have been planning a little something for quite a long while, but I always had a big question lingering in the back of my mind.
Those characters sitting right there in the database? I was wondering, is using the lore in the description and names considered as using the pre-made assets or is it forbidden?
I plan on making a game that adheres to that lore as tightly as possible…and then give it a horrible conclusion.
Like Eric, our Silver Reaper, going off the deep end and murdering everything in sight until the party stops him…by killing him.
Or maybe poor Alice’s compassion for the enemy might result in her by being burnt at the stake, accused of heresy. (Her title reminds me a little bit of a certain Maid of Orleans, after all...)
Maybe Noah will find out what the evil star actually is…and promptly regret looking into the endless, uncaring void of space, where creatures far beyond human comprehension lurk…
The game would be a non-commercial project, done only for my own (sick) amusement and of those masochists who enjoy watching the characters they fought with for so long drop like flies, albeit in a way that does not feel like it was done only for shock value, but rather a like a long, calculated move.
But what I want to know is, am I actually allowed to do something like that?
Also, if the answer were yes, it would be helpful if anyone might provide more lore that might not be in RPG Maker itself. For example, in the Steam card “The Star Seeker” it’s said that the evil star Noah is looking for is the origin of monsters, a fact that isn’t mentioned at all in his description.
