How many are still running WIndows XP?

For those running XP:

Are you running XP because you want to run it, or because one reason another you have to?

I myself, although finding it harder, choose to stay in XP because I prefer it over the later Windows versions.

Although Linux is a great replacement for WIndows, I still do alot in XP partly because I run stuff I can run no other way.

I edited your topic to make it clear you're talking about Windows XP, not RPG Maker XP.

.NET Framework was released under open source terms.

Thus Linux will probably have soon a .NET compatibility layer, better than ever!

Windows XP was a great OS for its time and it can still do a lot of nice things.

But new hardware gets undermined by XP due to constraints on RAM usage.

Still, I have used a lot of Windows versions, and I can tell you that Windows 7 and of course Windows XP are my favorite.

The good part is that Windows 10 will have both interfaces of 8 or 7 like,  so everyone will feel great with them.

And by watching the Windows 10 presentation I can say that I can't wait to put my hands on it! ( I want Cortana!!!! :p :p :p

Honestly, if WinXP could manage the bigger size of RAM, I would still use WinXP. Sadly, it's not

I would probably advance to Win10 instead of Win8 like I did to my WinXP to Win7 instead of Vista

I don't use Windows XP anymore, but I did use it well into the Vista days because I preferred it. When I updated to Vista, 7 came out shortly after and I dropped Vista like it was hot. Stayed up to download it the second it came out. Personally, I don't find the new versions of Windows glaringly different. 7, in particular, reminds me a lot of XP.

Things are arranged a bit differently but I've gone between several computers with several OSs with little confusion. Now that XP is out of support it's going to be harder for me to recommend XP lovers to keep using it. I've used a couple versions of Linux but using all my programs and games was sort of a pain so I always came back to Windows.

I don't mind 8 at all but I am pretty excited to get my hands on 10.

Truth to be told, Linux is still a pain.

I prefer Linux Mint because it comes with a lot of nice stuff and works with almost every network adaptor.

For older systems Xubuntu is also a nice alternative and very compatible.

If you learn how to install new software, the terminal commands to update and upgrade, suddenly Linux becomes a great experience.

But yes, it is not THAT easy and it has NOT THAT support microsoft provides you with truth to be told.

On the other hand, it is more flexible and more safe (nothing is 100% safe). Safety is a state of mind. :)

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
