Using a map as background for another map

I need to find a way to make it so that I can use a map as a background image (or parallax) for another map. The map used as background would be scaled down (each tile would be smaller than 48x48). The effect I want to create is just like in this video


I don't need to have the map itself loaded as background, an image of it would be fine. I was wondering if there was a way to do this dynamically rather than taking a screenshot of one map and setting it as parallax. The map I want to use as bg is pretty big (256x256) and it changes a lot during development.

If my only choice is to make an image out of the map, is there a plugin that helps me with that?

i dont personally know much about a plugin for that, but admittedly, I dont have much knowledge about plugins i dont go looking for. What i can tell you though is that the editor lets you save maps as png images when you right click them in the map navigation pane. you could just get your background image from that and scale it down if needed

Wow, I never noticed that option before. I feel silly now
Still, it'd be great to do it dynamically instead of using a screenshot. But if that's not possible, at least I have an alternative.

Is there any way to png the RMMZ creates from the map? It's scaling down the map too much and I'd like it to be a big bigger...
