Hellow people so I am a big fan of the "ten little friend of the family" from Agatha Christie

and I just wounder if I make a sorta horror game inspired from the concept of her book this will be a good idea?

because I saw a lot of adaptation of it and Always love it this story !

so what is your thought?

I don't see why not. Stories are adapted from novels and comics to movies and vice-versa. Even Planescape: Torment was adapted from a game to a novel.

It all depends on how you create your game.

Ah, Ten Little Pigs.

A similar concept was in I Know What You Did Last Wednesday.

A lot of people seem to like making fangames of existing properties.  But I personally don't see the appeal of it - you're immediately limiting your audience to people who understand the source material, and depriving yourself the creative opportunity to build a world and a story from scratch.

On the other hand, if you're just using the concept for inspiration, that can be a great way to start making the game that you truly want to make.

I agree. The concept behind Ten Little Indians makes for a good plot structure, but i wouldn't recommend doing a straight fan-game. For one, those who have read the book will know how it ends. For another, you run into copyright issues if you plan on taking it commercial. Christie's estate maintains ownership, so it's not public domain like Shakespeare.

Not really. It can still appeal to other people even if they don't even know the source material, because what matters in the end was how you executed your game.

But I'm not a fan of straight copies, I still prefer adding your own touch to it to make it "yours". It's also why I hate it when people watch a movie adaptation of a book then rant about how the movie is not the same as the book...

@all : this totally not similar of the book the end is not really like that I readed the book and I know the end the game is totally not like that my game follow the principe of agatha christie and is environnement but the meaning is  you have to find who are the murderer before the last days

the game is totally ramdom who mean in the 11 character one of them will be the host of the house and one of them will be the murderer + you play one character..and all choose ramdomly

and each game are never similar the meaning is you have to do a little similar to the game clue..to find clue who will help you to find which person in the house is the murder.

if I explain

you have a day of 24 minutes and you have all the days for found evidence  and such and each 23h you have all the people reunit and you have to try to know who are the murderer...if you suceed well the tomorow you finish the game if you fail to find the true criminal and choose to catch the wrong person ...to 12 am a ramdom guy will be kill in the way of the song like agatha christie made

and you can even get killed yourself at the second days

because this totally random!

and don't worry this not a commercial game haha

even the begin map and such are ramdom!

Okay, having a random variable assign characters the role of Killer or Victim each time makes things little more interesting

Will there be different summations based on who the killer and victims are?

Ie: Here's who did it, why and how...

(I recommend the Clue movie as a freakin aweome and hilarious example of this.)

Your concept sounds a lot like the Clue board game (or Cluedo, in some countries).

Go ahead and make your game, nio! Good or bad, I can't wait to see what you cook up! ^^

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
