@ Touchfuzzy-...... :3

Dat moment where you realize you have unwittingly been second hand stressing poor friend Makio. I'm so sorry! (but I'm not stopping, u never said anythinggg ;A;)

Eh...I swear a lot. Around 90% of my daily communication with the world is by the internet, and I've gotten into the habit of using swearwords as punctuation. I don't dislike it, and I often tell people it means nothing and few have raised any real issue about it. I'm fine with people swearing around me as long as A-we are close, or B-we are not close but they are not swearing AT me. I don't swear in verbal conversation on the streets so much (I mean I do, just not SO often), it's mostly an online thing for me.

I was about to do what Deathswallow already did. :D

To be honest I was expecting Indrah to be here too.

She really makes enjoyable and honest game reviews.

By the way:

Profanity for fun. Take for example the Angry Video Game Nerd, or Armake21, or South Park, or any Stand up comedian.

Profanity is not always bad. It's like a tool. It depends how you use it. Overdose of profanity anything leads always to negative effects.

Personally, I thought of swear words as the "adult vocabulary" not just as a child, but even today. If an adult gets mad, it's hard not to get serious when they use toned down negative words... but then again, I get really scared when a guest comes up to me and cusses at me. It's some scary times haha... (/-\)

But seriously, I use it when I get mad when I play. It slips occasionally.

I'm a big proponent of profanities and shocking language.

Why? Because casual use of profanity is the best way to separate the emotionally detached and intellectually

honest people from the emotionally reactionary and often irrational people.

Opinions should be evaluated on their merits in terms of how well they reflect reality,

not on whether or not they're presented politely.

A well-educated and reasonable invididual, who's emotionally mature, recognizes this and can compartmentalize

arguments away from the fluff-words accompanying them that do not have any bearing on what is actually being said.

Emotionally immature people with a lacking ability to pay attention to discourse will get distracted by

"scary" words and regress into a state of continuous emotional backlash, where nothing they think or say will be of

any use to the progression of the conversation after that point.

I'm not going to waste my most valuable commodity, which is to say - time, on emotionally immature and reactionary

individuals, so I'll use profanity purposefully to root them out of the conversation and my social life.

Can't stand the big bad "F-word" and keep track of what is actually being said?

Fine, then I don't see the point in pursuing a prolonged social connection to you -

because you're probably the kind of person who requires others to walk on egg-shells around you all the time in

order for you not to have emotional breakdowns over relatively benign and

innocuous expressions.

That being said, I'm not completely socially inept, so I do recognize that a very large portion of the world's

population find themselves incapable of not being emotional reactionaries most of the time, so I'll

self-censor in situations that require a high level of social cohesion, or in enviroments that

have specific rules regarding language in place.

I refuse to do so in my private time though.

Personally I have no problem with it, as long as it's not used to attack people. Then again, I find any form of bullying, physical or otherwise absolutely disgusting so that shouldn't be too much of a surprise. :)

I find myself ''casually swearing'' quite a lot, but only in a jokingly manner. As if when I play some game with friends and on the final wound save they roll a perfect X on a 20 sided dice I have a tendency to call him something, just to make people laugh.

That said, I find profanity extremely interesting and well, useful. It helps you express something that you cannot express with a simple ''oh my!'' and I find it to be quite a useful addition to my vocabulary. Heck, it can even be used as a ''weapon'' - in school I was known to be the goody two shoes, teacher's favorite and the nice guy, etc. When one guy tried to bully me and it was just him I assaulted him with such an avalanche of profanity that you wouldn't expect a kid to know (I read a lot, not always good stuff) that well, it left him in a shock and I just walked away. Never heard anymore bullying from that guy ever again. ;)

With that in mind, sticking to the usual ''F***'' and ''S***'' is so boring.

Why not go with (Profanity)

Vile ***-scorpions from the Spunkhara Desert or something like that?Jim Sterling is really good at coming up with wonderful profanities that make me laugh every time. This video covers probably less than 20%, but I still find it funny. So is Indrah, her swearing always makes me smile. :)
EDIT: WIth that in mind, I did forget to mention that I love black humor. Just love it, It that probably has to do something with it. I have a feeling that people who don't mind profanity will usually like black humor as well.

It's strange, but I feel as though swearing has something to do with the fact that it's taboo. I know it's been proven to relieve stress, and it's rather obvious that swearing is only viewed as inappropriate because it's a social norm to feel that way. If it weren't for our perceived idea that it's "bad" to say them, the words would be nothing more than noises.

But besides tradition, I think it being restricted is what makes the words so much fun to say. If they weren't, then saying the F word would be as bad as saying "drat" or "darn". By making it somehow bad to say them, we give ourselves a thrill when we scream them in times of frustration, the same feeling we get when we slam doors and cupboards. It's a vent, and if it were commonplace, it wouldn't work anymore.

So to reinforce it's power, we teach children not to say them and do our best to avoid using them in public. We probably don't do it consciously, but the effect is obvious if you compare the feeling between people who avoid saying curses as much as possible, to people who swear freely.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
