Using stock tileset as a placeholder?

If I want to eventually commission someone to make a custom tileset for my game, will I run into any problems down the line with swapping the custom tiles into my maps if I create the maps first with stock tilesets?

As long as the commissioned tiles go on the sheet the exact same way and you name the files the same, you shouldn't have any trouble swapping the files. If you sheet them differently though, or things are a different scale compared to the original, then you'll run into problems and probably end up having to redo the maps.

Thanks, thats what I was assuming, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any other factors I wasn't aware of.

Swapping one tileset for another where the tiles are in a different position is not a mistake that you make twice, I can tell you!!
