Sadly, the RPG Maker XP 1.05 replaces the DLL and overwrites the INI every single time you save the game, which is pretty bad for this. As stated in the post at Chaos Project:
Note to v1.05 (Steam version) users: People reported having issues with the above after saving changes to their game where the DLL file is replaced with original RGSS104.dll file. You will currently need to replace the DLL file every time.
I treasure my older RMXP version because of that, and also because Steam is just slow to open.
Gotta gammak fast! Sonic says. Still, it's doable with 1.05 even if it's bothersome to be replacing DLLs every single time you need to save.

There is another solution (just something I tried at one time and actually works), which is replacing the DLL from the editor's files after opening the editor (it checks the DLL every time it opens so you need to put it back before reopening it SO DON'T LOSE THE ORIGINAL RGSS105E.DLL). Still cumbersome but at least if you're like me and like having the program open for 20+ hours, suspend your PC, them continue next day and so on for like a full week, it's not a big deal. Just keep the original DLL in a safe place. xD
