Not sure if this is the right board for this, but I'm attempting to make a skill that performs a status effect on the user. This skill/status is named "Steady Brace" and allows the user to negate 50% of enemy damage. However, placing in the damage formula into the aforementioned status yields literally nothing happening in terms of damage negation. Am I going about this approach wrong?

The skill should add a state to the user. Within the state you can modify the parameters to your liking.

May you explain this in a mathematics sense? By what this appears to be, in relation to the attached image, is (physical damage x 50%) and (magical damage x 50%). Multiplying by half yields a larger variable, or am I mistaken?

Yes you are slightly mistaken.

Mathematically speaking, 50% is equal the decimal number 0.5.
Its best to use the decimal number to calculate things.

So in this case you multiply all damage by 0.5 (Basically halving it)

For example: the enemy attacks for 200 damage
If you have the state with "Physical Damage * 50%" you multiply 200 by 0.5 which would be 100.

What does this have to do with notes (as in your thread title)? Are you putting something into a note box of a skill? Notes are only used by the game if you have a plugin that uses them - do you have a plugin?

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
