I'm aware that scripts that allow you to display variables are gauge bars exist, but I cannot find any script for RMVXA that is similar to what I'm finding.

The video above is using Icy's Variable Bars for RMVX.

I want to know if it's possible to have variable bars displayed above events similar to how HP/MP bars are displayed over players and enemies in most ABS battle systems.

Look for something called V's Variable Gauges

From what I can see, V's Variable Gauges is a menu scene with variable gauges similar to a game progress or quest tracker scene. I was kind of hoping for variable gauges that appear on map underneath or above events, similar to how most ABSs have small HP or MP bars over their head so the player can see the health of enemies at a glance. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I do think you can use it to display variables in map.. If not that one, I'm sure there is one that does it...
