Hey there,

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, it looked like the right place to post.

I am extremely new to RPG Maker. I've downloaded the Lite version to try it out and see if I can make the game I want to with it.

I'd like to put in an image cutscene - basically progressing images - that are clicked through by the player. i.e. each click progresses an image or puts in a speech bubble. It means I can have face-to-face conversations between the player and NPCs.

I've searched for cutscenes but these are mostly using the sprites inside the game.

Is there a guide to doing image cutscenes? Maybe even with choices during the scene?

Again, sorry if this is the wrong place, but RPG Maker is rather overwhelming for newbies!

Thanks

Moving to VX Ace Support

The Game Mechanics Design forum is for discussing mechanics you want to use in your game. This is a "how do I..." question so belongs in the support forums. Even though you didn't specify, I am assuming you're using VX Ace because that is the only one I know of that has a Lite version.

Just use Show Picture followed by Show Text, setting the text background to invisible, placing the text box at the bottom of the screen (which is the default), and not actually putting any text in there to display. This will show the picture and then pause until the player presses the Enter or Space key.

Thanks for your help!

You're right I'm using Lite.

Slowly but surely I'm working it all out :)

Hi, I know this thread is like, years old now but it's relevant to me so I hope you can help. >.<

I got the image before my cutscene to show up and fade out, but after I transfered my player to another map (therefore ending the event), my screen stays black! I don't know what I'm doing wrong, so I hope you can help. , _,

Your question is different from that of the OP, and there could be a number of causes. Please post a new thread, with all the details. Include screenshots of the event before the cutscene. Do not crop any of the info on the left, those conditions are just as important as the commands on the right. When taking the screenshot, please use Alt+PrtSc so that we get just the event and not your whole desktop. Is the transfer part of the same event? Just in case it's not, include a screenshot of that as well. It could be something as simple as forgetting to put in the command 'Fadein screen' or it could be something complex. Without the details we can't say.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
