I am having an issue getting his character control scripts to work I want to work it. I have it to set the pose to walking, dashing, and idle. Which is exactly how I want it to work.

However when I walk, it uses my ISO graphic even without moving diagonally. I really want it to only make it diagonally when  it is diagonal and then the normal walking/running for the 4 directional movement.

I can't send you the files for high fantasy pack, but those character sets are what I am using. I'm not sure if these character sheets will actually work the way I want them to in this script. But I am hoping they will. If you have the High Fantasy packs I am currently using the High Fantasy Main Party Pack 2, the character sheets I am using are: Serae The Red

Links to his scripts:

Character Control: http://victorscripts.wordpress.com/rpg-maker-vx-ace/utility-scripts/character-control/

Diagonal Movement: http://victorscripts.wordpress.com/rpg-maker-vx-ace/utility-scripts/diagonal-movement/

I'm also using Pixel Movement but I doubt that has anything to do with this. Keep in mind I have gotten the script to use different character sheets based on movement, I just can't seem to have it only move diagonal when it needs to but only iso.

did you name the filename like this (it has to be this order)?

filename[x*][y*][diag][pose]

I got it working with hf resources with these scripts (although I am at work right now so I can't see exactly what I did)

Well it has three files. The "idle" one, walking, and dashing.

I got it working some-what. I got it work perfectly for walking. But when dashing not so much. I'll play with it some more though.

EDIT: I got it perfectly now. Thanks!

for dashing do filename[diag][dsh]

Also make sure the filename is the same as the walking frame (minus the [diag][dsh])

Well I had to do 4 for just one sprite.

For example.

Idle (normal sprite sheet)

Walking (in my case this is the same as my idle one)

Diagonal (Iso Character Sheet)

Dashing (Normal character sheet)

Dashing 8-dir (Iso Charsheet)

HF has very good sprite sheets, so yeah. Every sprite comes with 8-dir movement and also 4-dir. I love it.

I do not believe you need an idle sheet (I did fine without it) as it is for if the character does something when idling for a while (like sonic in the sonic games)

I believe I had my setup like this for each character:

Walking = john

Diagonal = john[diag]

Dashing = john[dsh]

Dashing Diagonal = john[diag][dsh]

 Hope this helps

Note: this does not include the 8 frame character sheets (you need victor's multi frame script for that)

Edit:  I will check and see my setup later.

This all sounds very complicated. Makes me nervous about getting HF :D

This is only if you want 8-dir movement, if you want to let me know. I will guide you on how to do it. It is actually quite simple once You know how to do it.

The only problem is having sheets for 1 character is an issue and can sky rocket your game size. But it is well worth it. Plus I'm using pixel movement. Which isn't needed, BUT I may use his platform script to go along with it, who knows.

Hi, all! I'm new here and would like to know how to use these scripts w/ pixel movement. A demo showing how to use these would be GREAT! Thank you all so kindly!

Victor Sant doesn't make demos of his scripts, at least not these.

I know. But I would be very greatful if someone on these forums could help me out. It's stupid to release a script without showing how to use it.

You do not need to do anything special with pixel movement for it work, you just put it in your scripts like normal.

8-dir movement is the same way, you just need character sheets.

1 for normal movement and one for diagonal.

I'm using multi frames because I have dashing ones as well so I use 4 character sheets.

I can't make a demo because it requires the sheets I'm using. I think you can find some that are out there, but the ones I'm using you have to pay for in steam or on the website. If you need a demo for the platform stuff I could possibly scrounge up something but I think I would need Victor's permission to do such a thing.

If you need THAT kind of permission to use a simple script in the game, then this is not the right script for me. Can you please tell me where I can find a similar script to allow for 2x2 or bigger tiles as characters?

You don't need permission to use it in a normal project. Show casing it in particular is what I mean. I don't know the rules when it comes to that. As far as I know you don't need a script for that.

Mythros, this is not the right place to ask these questions ;) Ask this question in a topic of your own in the appropriate section. I think here

I might be wrong though! Plenty of folks here who would love and are more knowledgeable about telling you what you need

Walking = john
Diagonal = john[diag]

Dashing = john[dsh]

Dashing Diagonal = john[diag][dsh]
This is wrong the correct is

Idle = CharName (with no sufix)

Walk = CharName[wlk]

Dash = CharName[dsh]

Diag Walk = CharName[wlk][diag]

Diag Dash = CharName[dsh][diag]

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
