I made a bed the other day and I just rolled with it. This is the first sheet of a few that I plan to make, whose general theme is "Victorian Era".

They are all drawn for Mack-sized characters, as I find the VX/VXAce 32x32 characters yucky

And I'm not good enough to draw details in those incredibly small dimensions
.

I'll not even touch the idea of external graphics, since I have almost zero experience with them. Instead I'll focus on making at least one more sheet with furniture/objects, one tile with floors, walls and generally structure based material and perhaps even one sheet with some characters, dressed in the time's respective fashion.

I would like to receive some feedback/evaluation regarding the quality of the graphics and perhaps, commends on whether or not they are worth capitalizing upon.

Thank you for your time.

Some credit goes to Celianna whose style I basically ripped off, after multiple long-hour sessions of thinking "How the heck does she do that?"

She also thinks I'm creepy.
THEY ARE NOT FOR USE AT THEIR CURRENT FORM!

That's some very nice pieces you drew here!

I like the fact that you tought of adding different directions for the furniture. Too often we are stuck with the front view and mapping becomes difficult because of that.

Your tiles should be useful to a lot of people.

As for feedback, I'm not the best at this but here are my comments:

The chandelier's lights look too uniform. I can't say if it's lit or not but either way, there could be two colors.

The canopy (?) above the bed and the one on its left are not aligned vertically.

I haven't tried importing your picture but I was wondering if it's for parallax or tileset-ready?

I don't mind parallax, but since you've made some animated furniture, it'd be easier if they were aligned. Some people can't use a graphic software for that.

By the way, do you have terms of use for these elements?

You got inspiration from Celianna's work, but did you use some of her material too? I'm asking because that would impact the terms.

  1. I noticed the chandelier's "flatness" long after the end of its design. The fault is, that I drew it focusing too much on the front view, while completely ignoring the top view. I might redraw it, or draw a second one.

I'm not sure what you mean with "vertical alignment". Could you elaborate?
The tiles are most definitely not tileset-ready, The biggest reason being that some of them are not made to be completely within the boundaries of 32x32 and their multiples. I could try to fix that, however. Alignment is the easiest part and the most trivial.
I took great care to upload the topic to the "General Resources" sub-forum, so that I can ensure that people would not take the material and use it (I think it's one of the rules of the sub-forum). They still need a bit of tweaking and I would like to offer them along with the rest of my sheets, when they are made (whether they are free, or not)
Everything is drawn by me, from scratch.

These are nice.  As has been mentioned, the chandelier is the thing that needs most attention, the perspective is wrong and so would clash.

The thing about the canopy is that the angles at the back are not identical, so the left side ends a pixel or so higher up the bed post than the right side.

On your point (3) 'General Resources' means that the resources are not limited to a particular engine, but can be used in any engine that the user has a valid licence for.  They can most definitely be taken and used.  I think you might be thinking of the WIP thread, where stuff may not be taken and used.

The point about terms was, I think, are these available for commercial?

Point 2 is irrelevant since it's not tileset-ready and thus doesn't not need to fit inside a grid.

What I meant was that the height of both was not the same by a handful of pixels, but as I said, it's not important now.

4 - I not 100% sure but I think it's the "work in progress" thread that prevent people from using them. From what I understand, General resources can be used by anyone, unless you specifically forbid it. You can ask any moderator for a better explanation and maybe move your topic elsewhere.

5 - All the more a wonderful job!

Funny thing is, there was a genuine mistake in the canopy's design. The back-right pillar was a pixel to the right, than the intended position. (Fixed it)

@ksjp17 Indeed I was thinking of the WIP thread thank you. Can I simply clarify that I don't want my resources used at this point?

Also, whether these are free for commercial use or not, will depend on whether or not I get enough feedback from people saying that they're worth spending some money on.

I'm not sure what the best thing to suggest is.  The WIP thread is for getting feedback on the execution of the resource, whereas you seem to be saying that you want feedback on whether these should be commercial or not.

Perhaps the best thing would be to report your first post so that the mod for this part of the forum is alerted, and set out your problem, asking for it to be moved to the most appropriate place.  Perhaps it's the general Art thread, but that might not give you the exact type of feedback that you're looking for.  Or maybe in Commercial Discussion.  Wherever it is, though, I think you would need so very large banner, or something, saying that these are not yet available for use.

No, no it's not. You're posting them in the resource forum as resources to be used. General Resources is the subforum for resources used for ALL of the makers. If you want feedback, post in the WIP. I'm closing this thread and removing the resources because this is not what you want.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
