So I'm relatively stupid when it comes to scripting so I didn't expect fiddling with scripts to come easy or be without errors but I've followed three video guides and I can't get it to function at all. So here is a laundry list of my failings. Please advise what in the hell I'm doing wrong.

1st. Tried to use with high fantasy sprites and after configuring the frames and rows and running a test fight I got an error that told me there was a syntax problem on a line in the script that didn't exist. (I don't remember the exact error but it said the mistake happened on a line number that would have been one line more than the final 'end' in the script). After much headaches and reinstalling of scripts I decided maybe my problem was High Fantasy and started again with standard sprites.

2nd. I started a new game and tried to configure a fight. This time the fight showed but the enemy was still the standard battler and the hero was missing, as if it were still a front view battle.

3rd. Fiddled with the same game and now the enemy (the generic man-eating plant) shows the full sprite sheet ( with all 6 enemy character sets) and the hero is STILL missing.

I am sure this is me just missing something obvious but when I do everything down to the letter that the guides say it gets a bit frustrating. Any and all help is happily, warmly, accepted.

It doesn't really help us to tell what problems you got without showing what you did and how you configured the script.

And video guides are bad for something like that, because they are usually too short and sometimes you can't see what you have to do.

Three suggestions:

1) follow the link "how to use a script" in my signature and check there (without need to stop and playback) if you made all steps as required.

2) go to victor's blog where the manual for that script resides and check through the manual if your configuration is correct - as far as I know Victor didn't make video tutorials for his scripts, he only wrote manuals where neccessary. And that means those Videos are probably from someone who has only limited understanding of the script himself as it wasn't Victor who made them.

3) give us links to the website of the script and post screenshots of your configurations of that script, then we can compare and see what you did wrong.

I've moved this thread to Script Support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

If you're using High Fantasy sprites then I would assume you are using Kaduki action. Good luck with that. I've tried to figure that out for 6 months now. I've asked questions and nobody has even commented. Oh well. It seems like those that know it are not looking at the forums or not interested in teaching anyone how to do it. Passive Lion has some nice tutorials, but they don't help beyond the setup shown.

But it sounds like you have victors animated battle script but not the actor battlers script. You need both. The second one shows your characters on the screen.

Here is a sample of my entry for an enemy in the animated battlers script.

'bat2'  => {frames: 3, rows: 4, mirror: true, invert: false,
                   mode: :charset, action: :default},

I use action :charset for all my actors. If I ever figure out Kaduki then I might try that. I have all my poses set to row 2 except for escape and retreat which is at 3.

Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
